I composed myself and acted tough.
"So what? That was just a kiss. In my line of work, that's natural."
His jaw clenched. The elevator door opened and he dragged me outside.
"Ano ba, Ral! Bitiwan mo nga ako!"
We went to his car and he opened the front door for me.
"Get in," he said in a commanding voice.
"What the hell! Ayoko nga!"
He sighed before looking at me.
"Get in... We'll grab some food. You barely ate anything back there."
"I'm not hungry and I'm also on a diet so I --" as if on cue my stomach grumbled. Shit. I bit my lower lip and looked away from him. Ral softly chuckled.
"C'mon, get in Irene..."
I rolled my eyes before getting inside his car. He closed the door with a satisfied grin on his face. We went to Mcdo's drive-thru and ordered food before he parked his car in the parking lot.
"Bakit hindi nalang tayo sa loob kumain?"
"I figured people might see us together and the rumors might get worse."
Napatahimik ako at kumain nalang ng chicken burger. We were silent for a while until Ral broke the ice.
"I'm sorry..."
Napakunot ang aking noo sabay tingin sa kanya. Our eyes met.
"Why are you sorry?"
"For dragging you hear..."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "Too late but it's fine. Nabusog naman ako."

"No, you were not." I faced him. "You were not selfish, Ral. Choosing yourself and your dreams is not selfish."
"Pero kung hindi ako umalis nandoon sana ako sa mga panahong kailangan mo ako. I'm sorry I wasn't there, love. I'm sorry I left you alone."
A tear fell from his eyes. He looked away and wiped it off. I swallowed the lump on my throat.
"It's all in the past now. What's done is done. Hindi na natin mababalik yun."
