Amanda wasn't having a good week. To start off, she had gone to leave her house Monday morning only to find a VHS tape outside her door with her name on it. She put it in her VHS player and found that it was a tape identical to one she owned which wasn't odd as she had left a few in her sorority house when leaving. She originally thought it was Lacey but she said it wasn't. She had talked to Kristen about it but she told her that she was being paranoid and it was probably another sorority sister.
Amy agreed she was most likely right and wrote it off. Then on Wednesday, they had to fly to Philadelphia where an Agent Jill Morris had been pointed towards a storage unit that had a bunch of torture porn in it. She had contacted Rossi, being a fan and all, and Hotch had sent Reid with him to investigate. Amanda found this particular case infuriating because she had spoken to Dave before they got called in and he said there was nothing to suggest that whoever owned the unit had acted on his fantasies.
Then cut to an hour later when all of a sudden the case agent found hair in the unit but had decided to keep it until Rossi told her they weren't going to keep the case. Amanda wasn't buying the act, even if Dave was. This is what she's discussing with her brother on the plane as he chuckles. "What, you're saying you don't find it the least bit suspicious that she kept the hair a secret until she needed a hail mary to get our help?"
"No, I actually think that you have a very good point. A point that Dave nor myself ever even considers. Which makes me wonder why you didn't think that Harrison meant it when he offered you the second unit chief position. I mean, I looked into what he said at the recognition ceremony and you have the most arrests in the entire bureau and most of them are solo arrests. Then you got up on that stage and said there were other people that deserved to be honored more."
"I'm just doing my job and we aren't talking about me, Aaron. We're talking about how I don't like this Agent Morris. She's suspicious and I don't like suspicious people."
"Maybe she has a gut feeling and knows she doesn't have the resources to solve this case alone or even find a body," he suggests but Amanda shakes her head.
"No. Presuming the hair is her own, which is most likely, she would've had it before Rossi even arrived. If I genuinely believed that there was a case and I needed help but there wasn't enough evidence, then I would be concerned about time and placed the hair with the evidence to examine. She let them examine all the actual evidence and used the hair as a last resort which means she doesn't care about this case at all."
"So you don't think this is a case at all?"
"I think that she's hoping there is and if there is, she's going to be a lot more trouble than she's worth," Amy informs him before standing and beginning to talk about what they know with the team.
________
About a day into the case, Amanda was at the edge of her temper with Agent Morris. Lucky for her, there actually was a case otherwise Amy would've likely kicked her ass for keeping them from more important things as if they are on a case, any new cases are passed to other units so they can be solved in a timely fashion. Sadly, Morris didn't care about the case, she cared about the fame, something made abundantly clear by her attempt to name the killer.
Amanda could tell that Morris didn't care who got killed so long as she comes out as the case agent that helped catch the killer and it pissed her off. The two butt heads every time they have any sort of conversation and the team noticed that after, Amanda seemed to disappear. They all chalked it up to her attempting to control her temper and didn't want to end up on the other end of an explosion. She finally loses it when Morris contacts the press and holds a press conference.
"I hate to say I told you so," she tells her brother.
"No, you don't." Amanda smirks before the two catch sight of Morris and follow her into the break room.
