it was a well known fact, that hermione granger was a gryffindor. from lighting a professor's cloak on fire to helping defeat the most feared dark wizard in the wizarding war, there was no option then to put hermione granger in gryffindor but if you were to watch her now, taking strides back and forth in her shared dorm room in the gryffindor common room, you just might take back your earlier statement.
biting her finger nails till they hurt, hermione paced, wearing out the soft carpet with every step her feet took. she was scared and she was nervous, she finally realized. stopping her pacing, she stood like a deer in headlights, realization hitting her like a truck.
she liked draco. she started pacing again.
months after the war, hermione decided to come to hogwarts to finish her seventh year. she came alone.
without the the boys by her side every waking second, she roamed the corridors with a longing(ness) for friend, that gave her someone to stand and sit by. so she befriended draco malfoy of all people.
why? who knows.
he was alone too. with all his friends having died, left him, or becoming afriad of him: he was in the same void as hermione but sadder.
with them, both being alone and overwhelmed after fighting in a record breaking war, they became acquainted with each other at first then becoming venting campanions, that told each other the struggles they faced each day to months later friends, who sat near each other at the lunch tables.
so now here stood hermione, in the middle of the gryffindor common room waring out the carpet with her sock covered feet, missing dinner as her thoughts raced one by one.
for ten more minutes, she stood at the same spot, her eyebrows furrowing as rubbed her chin in a statue kind of manner until her brain just stopped and she felt like she needed a nap.
but no. no. she was going to tell draco. she had to. they were to leave hogwarts in a month and she knew she would regret it so placing her shoes on her feet, she finally left the common room.
and as we all know, history was made in the halls of hogwarts. and it was.
