hermione granger always got everything she wanted. she was a pureblood. she grew up knowing everything about the wizarding world. she was taught to believe that purebloods are the best of the best. she was taught to believe that all muggleborns and muggles are worthless.
draco malfoy was muggleborn. he didn't find out he was a wizard till he got his letter from hogwarts. he was taught to be loyal and kind to everyone he comes in contact too. he knew nothing of the wizarding world but he sure was excited to learn all about it.

[first year]
"hi i'm hermione granger and you are?"
"and i'm malfoy, draco malfoy"
she smiles at draco and he smiles back, automatically thinking that he liked her smile.

[second year]
"no one was talking to you, you filthy little mudblood" hermione says to draco. gasps are heard everywhere. draco just has his hand on his mouth shocked that the girl he likes just called him that, he quickly walks away with his friends harry potter and ron weasley following him.
hermione felt bad that she had said that to him, he didn't deserve it. draco was just trying to answer a question that she was asking. she had said it without thinking. and that was the day she figured out she liked draco malfoy.

[third year]
"you foul loathsome evil little cockroch!" draco heard hermione say to a second year before she pulled out her wand and pointed it to her neck. draco quickly ran to hermione and the second year, grabbing hermione and picking her up so she couldn't do anything to the younger kid. hermione squirmed in his arms. "what are you doing? that second year was talking bad about my family! i don't know how she had the guts but i had to teach her a lesson" hermione said in one breath.
draco just shook his head "yes but that doesn't mean you had to do something to her what did you want revenge?" hermione just shook her head and looked at the ground for a second and then started to sob.
draco heard sobbing come from hermione and without thinking gave her a hug. hermione surprised, didn't hug back right away but then quickly wrapped her arms around draco's body and cried.

[fourth year]
"my father and i have a bet you see. i don't think you're going to last ten minutes. he disagrees, he thinks you won't last five" hermione tells harry, when she passes by him, ron, and draco. "i don't give a damn about what you're father thinks granger" he says going up to hermione. draco quickly grabs harry by the arms knowing hermione's going to pull out her wand and put a spell on his bestfriend.
draco quickly pulls harry out of the hall, with ron following, but not without catching hermione give a smirk his way, him sending one right back at her.
damn i think i'm in love both of them think at the same time.

[fifth year]
draco watches dolores umbrige put a pin on hermione's shirt. he sighs oh great

[sixth year]
"i am in love with you. you heard me. i am in love with you, and i know that love is just a shout into the void and that oblivion is inevitable, and that were all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and i know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and i am in love you" draco says with a smile "sorry" hermione just laughs and run into his arms, giving him kisses all over his face.

"we are in a war baby! we have to have a break! please baby i will not live with myself if something happens to you!" hermione says to draco with tears running down her pale face. "no baby i will not let anything happen to you we are in this together forever and ever please baby, don't hurt us!" draco says pleadingly
hermione just kisses him and when they pull away she puts her forhead on his "okay" he gives her a sad smile "i love you"

"hermione hermione" hermione's dad says during the war. "hermione please" hermione's moms says. hermione stays in her place, thinking of what to do. she suddenly feels draco's hand in hers, squeezing their hands, draco had tears in his eyes. she smiled and squeezed back and said to her parents...

and thats when draco knew.
