Emily's POV:

The next morning, I actually wake up before my alarm goes off. I start to feel a bit proud of myself until I realize that I had only woken up 5 minutes early.

Great.

I turn off my alarm so that it wouldn't ring and then I get up and get ready for school.

While getting ready, I couldn't stop thinking about what happened yesterday. If I was being honest, I kinda didn't want to have a crush on Luke. We've only known each other for a couple of weeks and it was obvious that he didn't like me, so I was only setting myself up for a broken heart, and I really don't want to go through that again.

I'm also not sure if I should tell Betty about this because I don't want to make it a big deal. I'm not sure if I want to tell...anyone for that matter. Even Alex.

Telling people would just risk the secret getting out and I don't know what I would do if that were to ever happen.

Maybe I'm just overthinking this. I'm sure that next time I see Luke, I'll still be able to act normal and then eventually this silly crush will just go away...again. Yeah...I'm sure.

(AN: Sorry guys if this whole crush thing is a little bit confusing. I completely forgot that Emily had already developed a crush on Luke since it had been a while since I last updated but to make things clear, after they hung out at Luke's special place she realized that she liked him but since Luke distanced himself from her (for reasons that we will discover later on) she pushed her feelings aside and thought that she got over her crush. Once they started talking again, she realized that she still had the crush on him. Sorry if it still doesn't make sense lol but hopefully with time it'll get less confusing).

I change into my clothes that I set up last night and head downstairs, only to see that my mom had left a note on the table next to some pancakes and fruit.

Emily,
I left you some breakfast because I had to leave early for work. I won't be able to pick you up so make sure to ask one of your friends if they can give you a ride. Have a great day today at school sweetie and I'll see you at 7pm!
- Love, Mom

I smile as I read the note, but also can't help but feel a little sad that I haven't seen my mom in 24 hours.

I also wondered how I was supposed to get to school, guess my mom didn't think of that part.

I head to the phone in the living room and call Betty. After about three rings she picks up.

"Hey, Em. What's up?"

"Hi Betty! My mom left for work early and I was wondering if your mom could take me to school?"

"Yeah sure lemme ask her."

...

"She said that of course she'll take you! We'll be there in 10 minutes."

"Alright thank you Betty! And tell your mom I said thank you as well."

"No problem, I'll tell her. See you in a bit, byeee!"

"Byeee!"

Once I hang up the phone, I sit down so I could eat the pancakes that my mom left me before Betty gets here.
