The Reason

It was  three months ago, Chaeyoung and Mina have been contacting each other even after the break up. Mina realized she can't really take it if she totally disappear in Chaeyoung's life, so as stupid as it may seem, she decided to keep in contact with the latter. 

Throughout the following months, they kept talking and Mina really tried her best to see Chaeyoung as a friend and no more than that but as they say...

...Its really easier said than done.

Her feelings towards the younger never really faltered and she hates to admit but she still gets very jealous whenever Chaeyoung tried to open up to her about this girl she's having her eyes on. Jeon Somi, this girl is nothing but perfect for Chaeyoung's eyes that Mina felt a little insecure. "Perfectly imperfect" Chaeyoung once told her. It broke her but she never tell.

There was also a time where Chaeyoung was tellling her about Somi and of how complicated her family background was. Mina being herself, tried to give the most unbiased advice she could give. 

After all these, It already sink in, she can never have Chaeyoung back and she have to accept that now. She tried to reply as little as possible and not to engage with the younger just so she can control her feelings. Chaeyoung once confronted her about it and she just told her the most basic reply, "I'm just busy". A totally lame excuse but it somehow worked for her. 

Mina was kinda happy that she finally able to resist Chaeyoung's charm that she find hard for the last months. Now, she just focuses on herself and how to be better. She tried to busy herself with hobbies she used to enjoy way before she met Chaeyoung. Reading books, knitting and playing mobile games became her comfort. 

Just as she thought she was slowly moving on, the cub called and chatted her as often as how they were back when they were still together and it confuses Mina again. Chaeyoung would call her whenever she went out with her friends and update her of what the girl was doing. 

One day, the two of them were calling each other and talking about random things when it slipped on Mina's mouth, "Babe", she accidentally said creating a deafening silence. "Awkward" is an understatement in that very moment, Mina knew she fucked up. 

There goes the friendship I thought I can offer.

"Uhhh... sorry Chaeng. It slipped." Mina tried to laugh it off but the other girl was just silent on the phone. 

"It's...okay. I just got surprised is all. I kinda miss hearing you call me that." 

Chaeyoung said that made Mina's heart beat like crazy but then...

"But Mina, you know we still can't, right?" Chaeyoung said sounding hesitant. She didn't want to hurt Mina again.
