Jared

Mark my word I'll kill him. How dare he hurt her? He knew Jay wouldn't listen.

But he will listen to his mother. Jared had left his sister with Kay. She'll be safe with him.

He knocks on Mrs. McFall door. She answers on the second knock.

"Oh Jared hi, please come in," Jared knew her. She had stopped by a few times to see how his business was doing. And to drop off some pastries. "What can I do for you?"

"It's a critical matter," Jared said.

"Sit," he sat down. "What is it?"

"I would appreciate if your son doesn't bother my sister anymore," Jared said.

"Has my son done something to her?" She asked.

"Oh, he hasn't told you has he," she looked at him confused. "Your son has been bullying my sister since the day she enters school, up until he graduated. Now my sister was fine, but he came back, and she's back to her old habits." Jared had seen the bandages on her arms. It hurts to know she's doing it again.

"What?" Molly sounded surprised. "Jay wouldn't do that?"

"Well he did, and now my sister feels insecure and afraid of him, she said he is trying to hurt her again, with that Tessa girl," just than Jay enters. Jay stopped in his track.

"Hey mom, Jared," Jay sat by his mother.

"Why don't you ask him," his mother turn to him.

"Jay, don't lie to me," Molly sounded upset. "Tell me the truth, did you or not, mistreated Naomi?" Jay looked shocked. He knew he got caught, Jared could tell by his expression. "No lies, Jay, only the truth, look at me."

"I'm sorry," his mother stood up. "It's why I came back; I want to fix things. The guilt is killing me."

"How could you do that to her?!" Jared stood up.

"Now, I want him far from her, don't even come near her, don't text her or call her," Jared said. "I want zero connection with her."

"You can't prevent me from seeing her," Jay snarled.

"Oh yes he can," his mother crosses her arms. "You just wait when your father finds out, and that Tessa I'll be having a word with her."

"Mom, I-," she cut him off.

"Don't Jay, you tormented that poor girl, knowing the situation she was on, she lost her parents, and you bully her," she shook her head. "Now I understand why she was so uncomfortable being here."

Jay looked down.

"That's all I needed to tell you," Jared said.

"Don't worry Jared," she looked at Jay. "He won't get near her, not unless he wants a restraining order on him."

"Ah," Jay looked up.

"Alright, let's hope it doesn't come to that," Jared sighed. "Now I'll have to again, get her out of her old habits, get her some help."

"If you need help with that, feel free to call me," Jared nodded. "I'll stop by maybe tomorrow after she gets out of school."

"Thank you," Jared said and left smiling at Jay. Jay just looked angry.

He should have never mess with Naomi. Jared will kill him if he gets close to her.

As he drove home, he was so distracted. He didn't see the girl cross his path. He hit the brakes. The girl fell back. Thankfully he didn't run her over. He got out and helped her up.

"Sorry," he said.

"It's fine, my fault, shouldn't have cross while it was on stop," the girl smiled.

"You're okay, no injuries?" Jared asked.

"Oh no, I'm fine," she said. "I'm Lin Parker."

"Jared Cain," he shook her hand. Her hand was soft. "Since I almost hit you with my car, you need a lift?"

"Um, well sure," she smiled.

"To where?" He asked as they got in.

"This a small town, so maybe you know the McFalls?" Jared looked at her. Oh no, please tell me she's not related to them.

"Yeah," he said.

"There my aunt and uncle, I'm going to leave with them temporarily," Lin said.

"Oh your related to that bastard Jay," Jared didn't mean to say it aloud, but it boils his blood.

"Um, you two don't get along?" She asked as he drove.

"Nope, he bullied my little sister," Jared said.

"What Jay? Doing that, no wonder my aunt called me to come and stay with them," Lin shook her head. "She wants me to keep an eye on Jay; I'm older than him. I used to beat his ass."

"I see, maybe you could smack him for me," Jared chuckled.

"Will do," Lin smiled.

As he drove back up to the house, Jay was outside with his father. His father seems pissed.

"Oh think uncle Phil got to him before I did," Lin said. Jared parked. Lin got out. "You coming?"

"Nah, I have to get back home, " Jared said.

"Alright, thanks," Lin grab her suitcase, backpack, and her bag. Her uncle walked over.

"Jared," Jared roll the window down and waved. "I heard what my son did, and believe me he won't get near her."

"Thank you," Jared said.

"Oh Lin," he hugged his niece.

"He gave me a ride here," Lin smiled.

"Thank you," Phil said.

"Well I got to go," Jared said. He said his goodbyes and drove home.

His thoughts wander about, how life will be when Naomi goes away. She'll be going to an art school. And she'll be staying at a dorm. He'll miss her. But he'll keep in contact with her. For now, he'll enjoy the time he has with her.

When he arrived home, Kay was on the floor, with Naomi doing a puzzle. How can they do that? Jared isn't patient enough to do those problematic thousand puzzle pieces.

"Brother, want to join?" Naomi asked.

"No thanks I'll stick to crossword puzzles," Jared chuckled. Naomi giggled.

How he loves hearing her laugh. It made him happy to know, she's happy. Let's hope Jay doesn't get near her.
