Aidan was pissed.
I've seen him mad before, but he was really really mad. We watched as he yelled at the counselor and the police officer.
All we did was flinch as much as they did when he took a step towards them, getting ready to attack. He was so mad that I could see smoke rising from his black fringe and the only way they'd be able to calm him down was by shooting him with a tranquilizer.
The police officers finally caught onto the fact that if he got any closer to them, he'd rip them apart, so they asked him to stop and they made him lean over the desk as they handcuffed him like a criminal.
He stopped yelling after that.
" We understand that you're... A little upset," The counselor said, composing her shaky voice and fixing her glasses. " But it has to be done. We can't have our students distracted by other projects," She said.
" We understand. Please release our friend," Phillip said, wringing his bandaged hand. The drumstick incident hadn't healed yet.
They made Aidan promise that he wouldn't say anything else. And then they told us to take him home because he was expelled for the rest of the day. And so were we.
We went back to our lockers and grabbed our bags and left. We each drove in our own car, agreeing to meet up at my house to discuss new plans.
As soon as we met up, we decided to stay outside for the sake of Aidan not breaking my things. We were in my backyard, sitting on the grass, with the exception of Josh who was on a lawn chair looking really uncomfortable, and we started ranting.
" Is this even legal?" Carter asked. " Like are they allowed to tell us that we can't do this?"
" Apparently," Phillip sighed.
" What happened to freedom of speech?" I asked. Carter snorted.
" Freedom of speech is a lie."
" Why is the constitution being brought into this?" Josh asked.
" Because freedom of speech," I said, speaking to him for the first time.
He stopped talking.
We all looked at Aidan who still looked upset. He looked up. " Do we listen to them or not?" He asked.
" Um... Is that even an option? Of course we don't listen to them," Carter said.
" I can't get expelled," Aidan said.
" Why not? I didn't think you'd care about school? Plus, at the rate we're going, we'll be famous in no time," Carter said.
" Look, my parents already don't like the band. If I get expelled because of this, they'll disown me," He said.
" Dude you're almost 18, stop depending on your parents so much," Phillip said.
" Right. Because I see you've moved out," Aidan frowned.
" Look we have to decide, do we still keep doing this or is Drea's Last Words over?" Phillip asked, looking at all of us individually.
" We keep doing this," Josh said.
" I second that," Carter said.
" Keep doing this," I said.
" I think we should keep doing it," Phillip said.
We all looked at Aidan.
" We have to stop," He said, looking at me before standing up to leave.
