[ Miguel's POV ]
*It was now later in the day and Miguel invited Hawk over to practice some of the moves they learned the day before because he had noticed Hawk struggling during the training*
"Ok now you're just going to move your arm a little higher and stand like this..." I helped reposition Hawk and told him to mimic my stance exactly. He was getting better as time went on, but he definitely still had a lot to learn.
"Dude I'm never gonna get it GOD!" Hawk said clenching his hands into tight fists and grunting harshly.
"Hey man I know it may feel impossible now, but you'll get the hang of it before you know it!" I said stepping back, a little afraid of what those clenched fists had on their mind. "After my accident I thought I was never going to walk again, but Sensei showed me that practice and determination was all I really needed to get back up again."
Hawk took a deep breath and slowly released his hands from their previous state. I felt a wave of relief over me. I knew he would never intentionally hurt me, but I've seen what he's like when he's angry and he has no control. He probably wouldn't even know what he was doing until it was over.
Hawk practiced the stance a couple more times and I watched as he started getting more comfortable with it.
"Nice work man!" He had a cold look on his face, but I could tell he was proud of himself, and happy that I was there helping him out, even if he'd never admit it.
After a couple hours of training and just hanging out, Hawk left to go have dinner with his mom. Mrs. Moskowitz was one of the nicest people I've ever met and I was glad that Hawk had a role model like her in his life, even if sometimes he fell astray. We had become so close so fast after joining Cobra Kai and I wasn't prepared for the person he became, but after he apologized to me and we had a long talk about, well... everything, I could tell things were really changing for him. I was happy to give him another chance, but I knew the others still weren't very fond of him.
[ Hawk's POV ]
My mom and I arrived at Chicken Wing soon after I had left Miguel's house and we sat in a booth by the front entrance. My mom loved taking me out for dinner whenever we had the money for it and although it embarrassed me a lot sometimes, I was happy she cared and I didn't want to let her down. The waiter gave us our drinks soon after we had asked for them and then we both ordered double cheeseburgers.
"Hey I'm gonna use the bathroom." I said leaving the booth. My mom nodded and I walked away.
As soon as I walked in I checked my phone to see if Demetri had tried to reach out at all, but there was nothing. Expected, but I was still overwhelmed with disappointment. I didn't want to seem weak, but I needed him to know I was honest about changing.
Hawk: hey demetri, would you want to hang out tomorrow?
I typed, frightened to send it, but I knew I couldn't be a pussy. I hit send and then a rush of emotions came over me. I miss you. I typed after. No, no! You can't show any weaknesses. You can be less of an asshole and still stay strong Hawk. Snap out of it! But before I could erase the message someone opened the door to the bathroom and it rammed into my back.
"HEY WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING ASSHAT!" I screamed as the boy with short brown hair turned to look at me. I looked at him with a fiery wall of rage, clouding my vision and hate fueling my every thought.
It was Robby.
(a/n: I'm not going to use specific karate terms much because I'm not an expert and I don't really want to get them wrong, but if you have any suggestions lmk!!)
