[ Demetri's POV ]

*15 minutes earlier*

I figured I had waited enough time for Eli to get home so I started making my way to his house. I was super nervous, but I knew this was the only way I could reach him without being around other people or giving him a chance to escape.

After a pretty quick drive I pulled up in front of his house and my hands were shaking. There was a car parked outside that seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite remember where I had seen it before so I just ignored it. It probably wasn't a big deal anyway.

I sat in my car for a couple minutes before I built up the courage to knock on the door, but eventually I just said screw it and walked up. I held up my fist a couple times motioning to knock on the door before I actually did it though.

"Come on Demetri you got this. It's just Eli there's nothing to be afraid of. This is your binary bro, no matter what things would always work out. It's ok," I mumbled to myself.

I took one final deep breath and then knocked on the door.

"Oh hi Demetri! Are you here to see Eli?"

"Uh yeah, is he home?"

"Why yes! The boys are upstairs studying if you want to go say hi!"

The boys? Who else was here? But then it clicked in my head, the car I had seen outside belonged to Brett. I was a little confused on why they didn't just leave together after training, but it was whatever. I guess I couldn't just leave now though, so I'd have to figure out a way to get rid of Brett at least for a little while.

I slowly walked up the stairs practicing what I was gonna say in my head and prepared myself once again to knock on the door.

I took several deep breaths once I was standing outside of his door, but then without even thinking, I knocked.

There was no response.

I knocked again.

"Uh... Hawk?"

Still nothing.

I decided to just take a peak in assuming that they were listening to music or something. I creaked the door open a little bit and didn't see them, so I just decided to open it all the way.

Then I saw them. Well I saw... Brett's back at least. I felt my heart drop to my feet.

"OH MY GOD!" was the only thing I could get out. I knew I should've just walked away and pretended like I hadn't seen anything, but I was too in shock to move.

Right after I spoke I saw the guys quickly stop what they were doing. Brett sat up revealing a shirtless and out of breath Eli underneath him and my eyes widened so much I thought they might pop out of my head.

Eli didn't even look at me, he just put his shirt back on as quick as he could and then I heard Brett speak.

"Hey... Demetri," he said awkwardly, waving a little bit. He was now standing over by Eli's window with his arms crossed as if he had been there the entire time.

Eli was now staring directly at me like he had just seen a ghost.

"What- Demetri- WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" Eli managed to get out. He was still staring at me and I could feel my lungs closing.

"I- I just I-"

"SPIT IT OUT!" he screamed clearly pissed that I had interrupted... whatever had been going on here.

"I JUST WANTED TO TALK TO YOU!"

Brett was uncomfortably tapping his foot off to the side and was slowly creeping his way to the door.

"I'm just gonna... imma just go and uh... use the bathroom," he said and then slipped out without giving either of us a chance to say anything to him.

I slowly stepped a little farther into Eli's room and then shut the door behind me with my foot, like I always used to do. I stayed leaning against it wanting to be far away from Eli in case he was as angry as he looked.

"Well secrets out huh? Are you happy?"

"Hawk I-"

"I SAID ARE YOU HAPPY?"

"No I- I just came to talk things out I- I didn't kno-"

"OH YOU DIDN'T KNOW HUH, SEEMS LIKE THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS YOU JUST DON'T SEEM TO KNOW."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I wanted to believe he wouldn't hurt me again, but he was terrifying when he got mad. He was stepping closer to me now with every sentence and there was nowhere I could go.

"GOD YOU'RE SO BLIND DEMETRI!"

"I really... don't know what you're talking about Hawk I-"

"OF COURSE YOU DON'T DEMETRI! YOU NEVER KNOW ANYTHING! ALL YOU DO IS RUN YOUR MOUTH AND YOU DON'T FUCKING LISTEN!"

It felt like my feet were glued to the floor. Eli was angrily pacing around and every second it felt like he was going to lash out even harder. I was too afraid to speak again. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket and I quickly glanced at it while Eli was huffing and puffing around his room.

Brett: Figured you guys needed some time alone. Told Mrs. Moskowitz I had car trouble so we're both outside taking a look. Hope things go well.

"Oh what? You gonna look at your phone now and ignore me like you always do?"

I still stood frozen in my spot. I didn't know what he wanted from me and I was terrified to make it worse.

"That's funny... the one time I actually want you to talk you keep your mouth shut?"

Finally I broke out of my stance. He was standing right in front of me growling in my face and it made my skin burn.

"HAWK WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!"

"I WANT YOU TO OPEN YOUR EYES AND STOP BEING SUCH AN IDIOT FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE!"

"MY EYES ARE WIDE OPEN NOW AND ALL I SEE IS A PATHETIC GUY WITH A STUPID RED MOHAWK AND AN ATTITUDE PROBLEM!"

"GO TO HELL DEMETRI!"

"YOU FIRST!"

Eli grunted and punched his wall. He didn't hit it hard enough to break it, but his fingers started to bleed a little. It hurt to watch him in such an upset state, but I was at a loss for what to do.

"I think I'm gonna... get going I-" but before I finished Eli grabbed my arm with his bloodied hand.

"Hawk, what do you want from me?" I said in a calmer tone than before.

"I already told you."

"Yeah well I'm not a mind reader. Just let me go."

He didn't budge. He stood silent with his grip getting tighter around my arm.

"HAWK I SAID LET ME GO!" I screamed and twisted my way out of his hold.

"FINE GO!"

"YOU CLEARLY DON'T WANT ME HERE SO WHY WON'T YOU JUST LET ME WALK AWAY? IT'S NO DIFFERENT THAN WHAT YOU USUALLY DO!"

"I SAID JUST GO!" he screamed. It looked like tears were welling up in his eyes, but I couldn't tell if it was out of sadness or anger.

"ELI DON'T LIE TO ME! WHY DO YOU WANT ME TO STAY?" I was ready for him to punch me in the face after calling him Eli. It wasn't intentional, but I knew he wouldn't care if it was an accident or not. He started walking up to me angrier than I had ever seen him before.

He stopped right in front of my face. Our eyes were locked on each other and I felt like I couldn't breathe again. I winced a little, bracing myself for impact with his fist, but all he did was scream as loud as I'd ever heard him scream before...

"BECAUSE I FUCKING LOVE YOU, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!"
