[ Hawk's POV ]
I woke up suddenly feeling something fall on top of me and then realized Miguel was chucking things around his room and I had been hit with an empty pillow case.
"AYE! I'm sleeping here!" I shouted, throwing the pillow case back to him.
"Sorry, sorry I just can't find my wallet, I had it in my pocket yesterday and I thought I put it on my desk, but it's not there."
I looked around the room and immediately saw Miguel's wallet sitting right in front of him next to his tv.
"Dude it's literally right there," I said pointing to it.
"Oh... thanks man. Sorry again, I'm just still kinda freaked after the whole Sam thing I don't know, don't worry about it."
"I get it man, and I mean hey if it doesn't work out screw her! You don't need her anyway."
"Real motivational dude," Miguel said rolling his eyes.
"I know right!" I laughed and then we both got ready for school and left for the day.
I wanted to help figure out Miguel's issue, but I had so many of my own that it was the last thing on my mind. I couldn't stop thinking about Demetri and how things were going now and it made me blush a little. Just thinking about him had a big effect on me and as scary as it was I loved that feeling.
When Miguel and I arrived at school we went through our usual routine of meeting people at the lockers and taking, going to class, meeting for lunch, going to more classes, and then meeting up at the end of the day. Demetri and I were planning on meeting at each other's lockers after school from now on so just as I was packing up my stuff I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Hey you, long time no see," Demetri said smiling from ear to ear.
"Hey," I replied back shyly, feeling like an idiot that I was so timid around him.
"Are you gonna be at training later today?" he asked me with a hopeful gleam in his eyes.
"No, my mom wants to take me shopping," I said rolling my eyes.
"Oof that sucks man, I could always come over tomorrow before the party to show you what you missed. Then we could head over together."
"Yeah sure man, that sounds great," I said blushing slightly, but turning away from him to hide it.
"Just try not to beat anyone up at the mall while you're at it," he said, winking at me and then he walked away to head home.
I laughed a little, but then got kind of upset thinking about the memory. I was an idiot for what I did and it was refreshing seeing Demetri able to laugh it off, but it still haunted me and I didn't want to remember that time in my life.
I went to check my phone and Miguel had been ranting about Sam all day and said she was acting strange during lunch and when they were together, but I said it was probably nothing because he tends to overthink a lot. I also said he was an idiot for sending her a dry goodnight text because then she would clearly know something was up, but he was just acting stupid and pretended like it didn't matter.
About an hour later, my mom and I were at the mall and I tried to get away from her side to not be embarrassed shopping for clothes with my mommy, but she kept asking me to try things on and if I say no she wouldn't stop pushing until I agreed. She used to buy all of my clothes for me before I became Hawk and she still hadn't gotten used to the fact that I had a new style now.
"Honey what about this one? it would look adorable on you?" she said holding up a blue and yellow striped shirt.
I saw a group of girls standing near us giggling a little and yanked it out of my moms hand and put it back on the rack.
"Mom I don't wear that kind of stuff anymore," I said angrily, and she looked a little afraid by my change in attitude.
"Oh well how about this, I'll give you $100 and just sit over there while you pick out what you want ok?"
"Whatever," I said, taking the money out of her hand.
She looked upset which broke my heart, but I couldn't be soft, especially in front of a bunch of girls who probably went to my school. They were still looking over at me so I went to a different section in the store, but before leaving I turned back and winked at them and saw them freak out. Weirdos.
After about an hour I had picked up a hoodie, a t-shirt, a pair of pants, and socks, and I went to checkout. I hadn't been back at the mall since that day and it was weird remembering everything that went down. All of Cobra Kai had been banned after the incident, but every once in a while some of them would come back and try not to get caught. I figured since I was with my mom and no one seemed to really care it would be fine, but as I was checking out things started to go downhill.
"Wait... you're that guy from that karate dojo that tried to jump those poor kids in the middle of the food court," the cashier said staring at me, slowly scanning my items not breaking eye contact.
"Uh... can I just get my stuff and go man I don't want any trouble?"
"Yeah whatever, but don't come back here again and tell all your other friends to stay out too we don't need anymore coma kids."
"Dude that wasn't even us-" I wanted to continue and I could feel the rage building up inside of me and I knew I would explode if I didn't stop.
"Alright yeah sure," I said in a defeated voice looking down at the counter.
The cashier had a sour look on his face, but handed me the bag with my clothes and I went on my way. I met back up with my mom and we walked together to the car. Both of us stayed silent until we got home and then she took my new clothes and put them in the wash.
Today had been a pretty uneventful day and I fell asleep thinking about everything happening tomorrow. I would be able to just relax for once at a party with people who were finally starting to see that I was more than just some ex Cobra Kai asshole. I'd get to hang out with my best friend again which gave me butterflies even though I had done it a million times before. I was happy with everything going on right and it felt like for once things were working out and nothing could ruin it. Nothing.
