Olivia regretted having to do that in front of the guys. That should have just been a private conversation between Finn and her. She really didn't want Luke getting involved. When she was with Finn she tried to keep him and Luke separate as often as she could because they would always end up fighting. Whenever she asked Luke if he didn't like him and wanted her to break up with him, he would just say that he was fine with Finn. This was what kept Olivia with Finn. Her best friend "approved" of him, so she knew it was fine, even if they got in fights.
That is why when Olivia got home later that night, she picked up the pink landline phone she had on her desk and dialed Finn's number.
"Hello?" Finn picked up. He sounded like he had been crying for the past two hours and that broke Olivia's heart.
"Hey, Finn. I wanted to call to apologize for what happened earlier. That should have been a private conversation, not in front of the guys." She speaks softly into the phone, Finn knowing that this is coming from her heart.
"Can we meet up right now and talk this out? I want to see your face." Finn asks, sniffling as he finishes.
"No. No, I don't think that's a great idea." She knows that she'll end up crying and will take him back if she meets with him in person. "I think it'd be better if we just talked it out right now over the phone. What do you have to say?" She says confidently.
"I want to tell you, from the bottom of my heart, that what I did was stupid. Yes, it went on for 6 months, but Kelly and I only really did anything about 9 times over the course of the 6 months. I loved you. I still do love you, Olivia. I can never get you out of my head. I told my mom about what I did and she told me I was stupid for hurting such a great girl like you. You really do mean so much to me, and my family loves you as well. The twins won't stop asking when you're going to be around again. I would do anything for you to take me back." She could hear how hard he was crying through the phone.
His words were hitting her heart and for a second she thought about if she did take him back. Would it be that bad? She quickly pushed it from her mind though. She couldn't be sure that he wouldn't do it again. He was all lovey in the beginning and then 6 months later she wasn't enough to keep him happy.
She gets pulled from her thoughts by him talking again. "And why in the year that we were together, did you never once tell me that you loved me? I've been saying it since month 3 but you never said it once." As he says this, Olivia wants to slap him.
"Don't go there, Finn. You know why I don't say it. You know what I went through after my mother. Do you really think that one stupid high school relationship would change that?" She seethes.
"No, I'm.." She cuts him off before he can finish.
"Exactly, you know how much that affected me. I don't know why the fuck you would be stupid enough to bring that up." She pauses and takes a breath.
