The months continued to pass as though they were seconds, time was a concept that seemed foreign to Eloise now. The dark lord had been quiet for almost and entire year and the Order were growing worried whereas the ministry were rejoiced that they were finally safe. The wedding was now in less than a month, and excitement was one of the most prominent emotions among the group of friends.

Lily, Alice and Mia were fussing over Eloise's dress, she had been procrastinating in buying it claiming that she wasn't particularly fussed with what she wore. Especially since Voldemort had been so quiet, a big celebration would have been the perfect time for Voldemort to attack, a wedding especially, he would have the element of surprise to his advantage. And so after much consideration Eloise and Sirius decided that they would have a quiet ceremony, where only the order members, and their school friends would attend. Plus Regulus of course.

It had been months since Eloise last spoke to her friend, and she missed him terribly. She couldn't help but wonder how he was doing, was he struggling with his NEWTs?, was he missing her like she missed him? Eloise wished to know the answer and found herself once more thinking about her black haired friend.

But the truth was Regulus Black had not in fact returned to Hogwarts this year. At all, a few months ago Voldemort had asked to borrow Kreacher to help him with a task. And upon the house elf's return Regulus noticed the weak state he was in, the poor thing looked close to death and it angered Regulus to no extent. Kreacher had always been kind to young Regulus, he had bandaged him up when he fell over, he had helped him pack when it was time for him to return, he had accompanied him when buying books, he even volunteered on multiple occasions to take the youngest of the Noble House of Black wherever he asked. It was no secret Kreacher favoured Regulus over the other members of the family, but the two had a bond, almost like...friends.

So when the elf showed up in the state he was in Regulus knew he could not wait to do anything, he had to do something and had to do it now. He spent hours, days, weeks, researching and calculating, trying to decipher some of Voldemorts obvious slight slip ups. He once insinuated that he was immortal, he can not die, his soul was part of something... after months of research Regulus Black finally got his answer. Horcruxes, how should he destroy one? He did not know, but he had a plan, it wasn't much, but it was a start, and if he survived...he would finish it.

To the Dark Lord,

Is how he began his message.

I know I will be dead long before you read this but I want you to know it was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match you will be mortal one more.
