Hours had passed since Eloise's conversation with Regulus and the official end of their friendship. He was there for her through everything. He held her when she cried, when she was worried, he made her smile, laugh and jump with joy. He made her a promise that he would always be there for her..and he broke his promise. But the worst part about it all was it was not his fault, he simply had no choice.

Now she was sat silently in the living room to Potter manor whilst Sirius, James and her parents spoke about him moving out and finding a place of his own. But Eloise remained silent staring off into space not daring to make a sound. She was so distracted with her numbing thoughts that she had failed to notice the conversation coming to an end and her parents leaving the room leaving the three teenagers behind.

James and Sirius shared a concerned look of which Eloise too did not notice. She felt numb, scared; not for herself but for Regulus. Was he safe? Will he live? What would happen to him? Would she ever see him again? Eloise did not know the answer to these questions but merlin did she hope that despite breaking one promise he would keep the other and he would live to see her get married.

"El?" spoke James softly still unable to pull her out of her trance but he knew she was listening when he received a small hum in response. "You've been like this since the train ride, what's happened?"

"He had no choice." she whispered to no one in particular "He's not a coward he had no choice"

"Who had no choice?" frowned Sirius putting a comforting hand on her shoulder making her look up and finally make eye contact with the two boys.

"Regulus" she answered vaguely "He had no choice" She said letting a tear slip out of her eye "He's got it. He's trapped now, he has no way out"

Sirius' heart dropped as he caught on to what the girl was trying to say and a pit of guilt brewed in his stomach. Maybe if he had just tried harder to convince is little brother to run away with him they wouldn't be here right now mourning the death of someone who was not yet dead. He knew what this meant for his little brother, he was...in the nicest way possible...of no particular use to the Dark Lord, he had no special talents, skills or powers but he was disposable.

Regulus Black had been branded with the mark of Death. It was etched onto his skin and always would be, it was the very thing that sealed his fate. And what was his fate you may ask? an untimely death. The poor newly turned sixteen year old boy was doomed for death and there was nothing that could be said or done about it.

Eloise broke down burying her head into her boyfriends shoulder as she sobbed, tears staining his shirt as he held her close allowing tears of his own to escape his eyes. Sirius and his brother had never been particularly close but that didn't mean he didn't care for his brother. He had to pretend to hate him in order to keep him safe from now as he knew that any contact with a 'blood traitor' would put Regulus' life in a lot of danger. Therefore, the two boys could only assume that Eloise was not only mourning the death that would happen soon but the loss of her friend. James knew how much the youngest Black meant to his little sister and he knew what this meant for the boy and it brought tears to his eyes also.

The three teenagers sat in a solemn silence as they cried together. When the time came that they went to bed, Eloise and Sirius did not sleep. But they held each other a little closer that night, a war was coming and it terrified them, but above all they were scared to lose each other.

"I love you" Eloise said mumbling into his chest.

"I love you too my darling girl" he replied kissing her head. Eloise lifted her head clutching him tightly as she looked him in the eyes leaning upwards to capture his lips in a kiss.

The kiss was one that held so much love and promise and yet so much fear and panic. It was a kiss that felt like a hello but also a goodbye all at once. It was one that said- begged, the other not to leave them. "I love you so much" said Eloise breaking away from the kiss

"I love you too" Sirius chuckled momentarily forgetting the chaos of the world around him as he held Eloise close "'Always." he finished

"And forever?"

"And forever."

They laid in each others arms for the rest of the night holding each other close and tight terrified that someone or something might snatch them away from each other. There was a war coming and they both knew it but they were too scared to admit the casualties of war that were sure to follow, all they could do was pray that it would not be them.

"Make me forget." said Eloise gently to her boyfriend desperate to feel something other than sadness as she looked up at the love of her life, she just wanted to feel as though everything was okay, just for a short moment. "Even if it's only for a little while" she continued "make me forget"

"Okay" Sirius agreed "Only if you make me forget too"

"Always"

"And forever?"

"And forever." she finished "I love you" she said for the third time that night capturing his lips in another kiss as he held her tight pulling her closer into him the both of them trying hard to forget.

"I love you." he said kissing her deeper as they began to accept the way the world was spinning.

"There's going to be a war" she said "isn't there?"

Sirius hesitated in answering for a moment "yeah.." he said gently "there is"

"People are going to die...and it could be us..so for tonight, let's pretend it's all okay"

Sirius smiled kissing her deeply and helping her feel okay. Soon two became one together as they gave in to their temptations longing to feel closer to each other for as long as they could. A couple of hours passed and they lay there once more in each others arms satisfied as they forgot only for a short amount of time, but they forgot and all their worries were non existent as they basked in each others presence hoping that the day would never end despite knowing that it would and soon they would have to face reality, but that didn't mean they would not hide from it for as long as they possibly could.
