Every day was more or less the same; wake up, eat breakfast, go to class, go to rehearsal, do your homework, and go to sleep. After a while it got tiresome, and the only thing keeping me going was counting down the days until my sixteenth birthday on March 7th. Rory's sixteenth birthday was two days after mine, so we agreed that if there were any party it would be for both of us. The night before, Luna walked me up to my room as she always did.
"Hey, go to sleep in your clothes tonight. Shoes and all," she says, turning to me.
"Come again?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
"Just trust me, you'll see," Luna replies, kissing my forehead. "G'night." She goes into her room and shuts the door and I stand there, baffled.
"Uh...goodnight," I say to the door after a few seconds of puzzlement. In all the time I'd known her, that was definitely the weirdest thing she's ever said to me, but something told me to listen to her. As stupid as it sounds, I picked an outfit out of my trunk and wore it to bed. It was a pink cardigan with a ripped-up pair of blue jeans and a pair of white sneakers to match. Note to self, sleeping in jeans and sneakers isn't comfortable and I won't be doing that again.
I went to sleep and I was woken up early the next morning to someone tying a blindfold around my eyes. I panicked and grabbed their wrists, and I hear a familiar laugh.
"Relax," I hear Cedric say, "It's just me." I'm barely awake and the scare he'd given me hasn't had time to wear off yet. I start to hear other voices around me.
"What's happening?" I hear Rory ask.
"Hush, don't ruin it," Luna hisses in response. I think I hear Cora giggling somewhere else. Ced finishes the blindfold and suddenly throws me over his shoulder.
"Put me down!" I shout, bunching his shirt in my hands.
"Would you rather walk down the stairs with a blindfold on?" he asks.
"And where exactly are we going that requires me to leave Ravenclaw Tower blindfolded?" I retort, and I feel him shake his head.
"You'll see," he says, and I can practically hear him smiling. I listen to the footsteps of my friends following behind us, and I try to put together the sounds of the hallways we were turning down in order to figure out where we are. Eventually, we open a door and I feel the cool morning air rush against me and I knew the sun hadn't risen yet. Why are we outside? I hear a car door open.
"Just put her in the back," I hear one of the twins say. Oh God, not this again. I couldn't explain it to them, though, as Luna had done that obliviate charm on them all a long time ago and they didn't remember a thing about that day. I, however, didn't want to live for exactly 16 years. Cedric dumps me in the backseat of the car and buckles my seatbelt for me.
"Where are we going?" I ask, feeling someone get in next to me. It was Rory; I knew by the smell of the cologne he always wore. I wondered if he wore a blindfold too.
