"You guys are not going to BELIEVE what Kara did in Language Arts class today," Crutchie announced at lunch.
"Who's Kara?" Sky asked.
"Quick summary, she had a big crush on Davey, they went to the school dance together because Davey didn't want to hurt her feelings, she kept on badmouthing the newsies, so Davey ditched her, and now she hates our guts," Maine informed him.
"Ooh, what'd she do?" Sky put his elbows on the table in interest.
"She told Mr. Weisel that it was a bad idea to put Davey next to Jack and me, so now we're on opposite ends of the room," Crutchie answered.
"Okay, one, it would be 'Jack and I,' second, who does she think she is?" Katherine exclaimed, "I don't even know her and I already hate her,"
"We found a work-around," Jack sat next between next to Katherine and Davey sat on the other side of him, "there's a pencil sharpener at the front of the room and hand sanitizer at the back,"
"Ooh, sneaky," Vivian giggled.
"Okay, do I or do I not have the most ADORABLE girlfriend EVER?" Sky put his arm around Vivian.
"Yours is cute, but mine is better, she's cute and fashionable," Katherine hugged Sarah.
"Are you saying Viv isn't fashionable?" Sky asked defensively.
"Of course not, I'm just saying, Sarah is kind of known as the fashionable one in our friend group," Katherine clarified.
"I know we don't apply to this argument, since they're talking about girlfriends," Jack whispered to Davey, "but I have the best boyfriend ever, hands down,"
"I'm going to have to disagree," Davey shook his head, "mine's better, I have... like, THE guy, I mean come on,"
"Oh, THE guy?" Jack raised an eyebrow, "what's that supposed to mean?"
"Well, pretty much anyone could look at you and say 'oh, it's Jack Kelly,' but I don't think that even the Delancey's know my name," Davey shrugged, "outside our friends, it might just be Kara who could recognize me and address me directly,"
"Well, this is high school now, not everyone knows who I am," Jack looked around.
"Well, they'll learn," Davey took a bite of his sandwich, "in no time, I bet,"
"Well, my boyfriend is better than yours because he's smart, sweet, and all-around adorable," Jack winked.
"Winking? Is that going to be like a thing now?" Davey chuckled.
"I'm not doing it on purpose, it just comes naturally," Jack admitted, "so, probably,"
"I'm cool with that," Davey nodded.
"What are you two whispering about?" Katherine interrupted them.
"Nothin," Jack started casually eating his lunch.
"I'm sure whatever it was," Sarah shrugged, "it was gay,"
Davey flinched, "sorry, still not used to it,"
By the end of the day, Davey had to say his least favorite class was Mr. Weisel's class, but even that was redeemable since Jack was in that class with them.
"Cheer tryouts here I come!" Maine skipped down the hallway to the gym, on the way, she passed by some familiar faces, "oh, hello, ladies,"
"Still chasing you little cheer dream?" Julianna had her hands on her hips, her crew behind her, it appeared they were headed to the gym as well, "wouldn't be surprised if the cheer captain takes one look at you and sends you away,"
