The next day was Jack's birthday, so Davey was supposed to take Jack on the picnic if the weather allowed. He woke up and immediately checked the weather app on his phone, it looked like it was going to be overcast until two p.m, when it would start raining, and then later a thunderstorm, but two p.m should give them enough time.

No sooner had he exited the weather app than he got a text from Jack.

Jack-Davey

Jack: So, are we on for today?

Davey: Yeah, we should be fine as long as we leave before two. Happy Birthday! 🎉🎁🎂

Jack: Alright, when should I come get you?

Davey: I should be ready by 11.

Jack: Cool, see you then 😉

Davey: see you ☺️

Davey started his day by putting his contacts in so he could actually see what he was doing. The next step was choosing an outfit, he didn't have much to choose from, but a flannel shirt and jeans seemed like the best choice for the given temperature and occasion. The next step was getting everything together, he only had roughly two hours, which might seem like plenty of time, but Davey wanted to do something humorous and cute, and he didn't have a cookie cutter. So he had a butter knife to try to make a heart shape in the sandwich... or maybe a star would be easier... yes, a star would definitely be easier.

It took almost an hour to make the sandwiches themselves, then he had to get everything else together and find the little picnic cooler.

"Why are you rushing around?" Mr. Jacobs seemed to just notice his older son.

"I'm getting things together, I'm leaving in a little bit, but I'll be back later this afternoon, I'm going on a picnic with Jack for his birthday, remember?" Davey was trying to Tetris everything into the cooler without crushing the chips or the sandwiches, "what's the time?"

"10:56," Mr. Jacobs read off his watch.

"Okay, sandwiches, drinks, chips, cake, I'm all ready," Davey closed the cooler and went to get his shoes on. While he was in the process, his phone vibrated with a text from Jack, 'I'm here!'

He finished tying his shoes and got up as fast as he could. He grabbed the little cooler on his way out.

"Hey," Jack rolled the window down.

"Hi," Davey smiled, "happy birthday,"

"Thank you," Jack nodded, he was wearing jeans and a raincoat, "oh, guess what Crutchie and Maine got for me," he reached into the little compartment in his door and took out an ABBA CD.

"I don't... know who that is," Davey tilted his head.

"I'm sure you do, here, they got me it because of the first track, listen," Jack put the CD into the player, "and get in the car, we want to beat the rain, don't we?"

"Right," Davey got into the car and Jack started driving, the first song on the CD was 'Dancing Queen,' and Davey actually did recognize it.

"This song is in Mamma Mia," he chuckled.

"Wait a minute, you've seen Mamma Mia but you don't know who ABBA is?" Jack scoffed, "all the songs in that movie are ABBA songs, that's the entire point,"

"Oh," Davey put his seatbelt on, which he wished Jack let him do before he started driving.

"You see, Crutchie and Maine are making fun of me, because one of the lyrics is 'only 17,' and I'm 17, so... I guess I'm the 'dancing Queen' which is really ironic because I can't dance for the life of me," Jack rolled his eyes, "my favorite picnic place is over... there,"
