Katherine paced her bedroom, it was officially Sarah's birthday, and Katherine decided she was going to read the poem out loud to Sarah. Luckily she was at her mom's house now, so it was safer to rehearse. She wasn't out to her mom yet, but she was sure her mom would be alright with Katherine dating Sarah.
"What's happening, Katherine?" Dean stood in Katherine's doorway, Katherine had left her door open, and Dean and Spot were over for the morning so Dean could help Carmen with packing things for when she moved in with Dean.
"Nothing, I'm just a little stressed," Katherine sat down on her bed.
"Isn't today that Sarah gal's birthday?" Dean asked.
"Um... yeah, how'd you know?" Katherine tilted her head.
"Well, your mom may have told me," Dean shrugged.
"Oh, yeah," Katherine nodded.
"So, I assume you got her something," Dean smiled.
"Well... I wrote a poem for her, I'm just afraid it's too cheesy," Katherine sighed.
"True gifts come from the heart, I'm sure your girl will love it," Dean assured her.
"Everyone keeps telling me tha- wait, what?" Katherine stood up swiftly.
"Hey, Spot, you almost ready to head home?" Dean left the room, "I need to take you to school soon,"
"Yeah, I'm ready," Spot replied.
"Oh, Dean, wait," Carmen came out of the kitchen, "You're coming to Thanksgiving with my family, right?"
"Wouldn't miss it," Dean leaned down and kissed Carmen, Spot rolled his eyes and looked away. "Alright, Spot, let's head out," Dean chuckled.
Katherine was slightly confused, Dean knew about her and Sarah, didn't he? Of course he did, but how? How obvious was Katherine being? She thought she was being discreet, but she supposed she should try to be more careful.
"I need to get you to school, too, missy," Carmen called to Katherine.
"I know," Katherine grabbed her poem, which she had typed out and printed off the previous night, and headed out the door with her mom.
Her heart raced as she entered the commons, she located her friends and shakily made her way over to them.
"Hi everyone, happy birthday, Sarah," she smiled.
"Thanks, Katherine," Sarah smiled back.
"I... I wrote something for you... and I hope you don't think it's too cheesy," Katherine looked at her poem and took a breath before reading aloud:
"To the princess who has brought me more joy... than could ever be brought to me by a boy, with a laugh that brightens my day, and assures me that everything's okay. When I look into her eyes, my soul wants to fly, and when her hair flows in the wind, well then, i feel like my life begins.. again.
Simply holding her hand, while she holds my heart, I feel I would die were we ever to part. S is for sunshine that brightens my day, A is for amazing in every single way, R is for radiant, need I say more? Another A for admirable, this girl I adore, and H, for hugs, because yours are the best, Sarah Jacobs, you're beautiful, and you know the rest,"
Silence fell across the table, Sarah was smiling brighter than she'd ever smiled before.
"I loved that," She whispered.
"It wasn't to cheesy?" Katherine sat down.
"No, it was perfect," Sarah blinked back tears.
"That was seriously adorable," Sky laughed, "props to you, Katherine, you wrote poetry,"
