"They're going to love you! I promise! They're really nice too. I mean, sometimes they can get overwhelming but thats just because of all of their personalities combined." Caleb reassured me, as we walked towards the diner where his friends were supposedly waiting for us.

I fiddled with the end of my blue sweater out of nervousness. It was one of my favorites. It always made me feel confident. Unfortunately, it wasn't doing that today. No matter how many times Caleb told me that his friends were great, i couldn't help but feel nervous at meeting so many new people all at once.

Not only that, but, since it wasn't a school day, i didn't have a backpack to put my stuffed bear in like i normally would do, meaning, i had to leave it back at the dorm room

Not only that, but, since it wasn't a school day, i didn't have a backpack to put my stuffed bear in like i normally would do, meaning, i had to leave it back at the dorm room. I was really hoping I wouldn't embarrass myself or even worse, embarrass Caleb in front of his friends.

"Y-yeah. Of course. I can't wait" i said, giving him a shaky smile. He gave me a skeptical look, obviously not buying into my lie, but to my luck, he didn't comment on it.

"We're going to be eating brunch. Mainly because Ryan said he was tire of going out for burgers. You like pancakes? Right?" He asked. The new information made me giddy inside. I love pancakes.

"Yes!" I exclaimed, cursing myself for how excited i sounded. Caleb just chuckled, shaking his head in amusement, making his blonde hair ruffle in the wind. "How far away are we? We aren't we driving?" I asked.

"Kid. This is college. Do any of us look like we have enough money to pay for a car and all the expenses that come along with it?" He asked, smiling, but raising his eyebrows at me.

"I mean, now that you say it out loud, no" i replied.

"We'll be there in a couple of minutes" he said. We walked in silence for the rest of the way. Which i didn't mind, because it gave me time to enjoy the outdoors. I've always loved being outside.

Back at home, i didn't get much time to spend outside during the year, because our summers were short, and our winters were long. But now that I'm in Florida, at college, even though it's September, it feels like June. We were pretty far from the ocean, actually, so the breeze in the air wasn't coming from the beach, but instead, the cars that were zooming by.

Some days I wish I had taken drivers ed when i was 16 so i could get my license. But, then i remind myself that the last time i got behind the wheel, i nearly crashed because of how nervous i was about crashing.

It was a week after I had turned 16. My dad decided he was going to teach me to drive instead of paying for the classes. He took me to an empty parking lot and said a single word: 'drive'. He didn't tell me how. He didn't give me tips. I had to figure it out all on my own. Yeah, well after I almost crashed into one of the light posts that were situated in the middle of the lot, he didn't get in a car with me behind the wheel ever again.
