"How do you feel about me coming home with you to meet your family this Christmas?" Damien asked me as we took our seats on the plane. My dad had sent us money for two plane tickets and enough for a taxi to get us home, which I was grateful for.

If he didn't sent the money for both of those, Damien and I would have been stuck trying to catch extremely expensive taxis and staying in a car for a long 16 hour car drive.

"Honestly?" I asked, fiddling with my hands. I had never been good on planes during the takeoff or landing, it makes me nervous.

"Yes little bear. I always want honesty when it comes to you" Damien replied, taking one of my small hands in his own large one and giving it a comforting squeeze.

"I'm a little nervous about my mom. But other than that I'm excited about you meeting the rest of my family. I think my grandparents are really going to like you."

"Just try to ignore your mom if she says anything mean, ok?" He asked, to which I nodded.

"I know" i replied, sending him a small smile. His words did nothing to ease my nerves about the situation with my mother though, unfortunately.

I felt slightly bad for how tightly I was holding Damien's hand, but by his stoic expression, he didn't seem to mind my death grip too much. Maybe I'm just weak? Luckily, the flight back to my hometown is only about an hour and thirty minutes so I wont have to be in the air for too long.

"Relax baby I'm here, you're ok" Damien whispered in my ear as the plane started to take off. "If you want, once the plane is in the air, you can sit on my lap"

"But theres other people here that will see us" I murmured back, looking anywhere but the window of the plane.

"So what" he said lightly, "I don't care. You're my baby boy and you can sit in my lap if you want to. Their opinions don't matter" I giggled as he playfully tickled my sides.

We sat in silence for a few moments, before i broke the tension again, not only to ease my nerves, but to distract me as well. "Are you nervous?" I asked.

"For what baby?"

"Meeting my whole family"

"Of course I am."

"You don't seem nervous though" I pointed out, making him chuckle lightly.

"I am. Of course I am. I want your family to like me. I need them to like me. I plan on being in your life for a long time, which means they also need to put up with me" He replied, making me internally swoon. What a man.

"My grandpas going to love you" I said, resting my head on his shoulder.

"Oh really? And why is that?"

"He's a big soccer fan. You guys have that in common." I replied cheekily

A few weeks ago Damien had told me all about his soccer addiction as a kid. He told me he used to play before college. He's still a huge fan of the game, but he was even more obsessed when he was younger. He even showed me a soccer jersey he had, that was signed by a famous player, which I found really awesome.

"Oh yeah? Well then I'm sure I'll get along with him" He said, chuckling

"You should ask him to show you his signed soccer ball collection" I said, laughing, perking up at the thought of his collection of 205 signed soccer balls. "My grandma is always scolding him for having such a big collection stored in the garage of my parents house."
