Walking through the halls trying to find my classroom posed two issues. One, i could barely see over what seemed like millions of tall people swarming the hallways, and two, this school was much bigger than my high school, so i had no idea where i was going. I wouldn't be surprised if I've been walking in circles for the past 15 minutes.I feel something hard collide with my back before the floor starts getting closer to my face. Just as I'm about to land on the floor a hand reaches out and tugs me upright. I spin around, ready to apologize, only to be met with the same apologetic face.
The boy standing in front of me has light brown hair and hazel eyes. Surprisingly, he's about my height, maybe a few inches taller. "I'm so sorry" are the first words that rush out of my mouth. I'm about to tell him its ok but he continues. "I'm just in a rush to get to my class and—holy shit—i just-" i wince at the swear but he stops talking when i place a hand on his shoulder.
"I-It's ok. I'm not h-hurt. See?" I say, holding out my arms to show him i wasn't hurt. I curse myself for doing that, realizing how childish it seems. I snap my hands down to my sides in embarrassment, earning a laugh from him.
"Thats good to hear" he said, shaking his head from side to side, "I'm Finn" he holds his hand out towards me.
"T-Teddy" i introduce myself, shaking his hand. "What c-class are you in such a rush to get to?"
"I forget honestly. All i know is its room 103M"
"Thats where I'm going too! Whats your major?" I ask, without my stutter, just genuinely happy that I've already met someone with my same major on my first day of school.
"Architecture" he replies.
"Thats cool. Thats my major too. We can find the room together. Yeah?"
"Yeah sure" Finn says, starting to walk forward, as i stand there in shock with a million thoughts running through my head. I made a friend? Like, all on my own? With no help? Momma would be so proud of me! "You coming?" Finn asks, snapping me out of my daze. Quickly turn around and walk with him, with a blush on my cheeks.
"So you're a freshman right?" I ask, trying to make conversation. I'm not comfortable enough with him yet to walk in silence.
"That obvious?" He asks, teasingly.
"Sort of. Don't worry though. I'm a freshman too"
"I assumed that much." He chuckles.
"That obvious?" I mock his earlier words, causing him to laugh once again.
"Yeah sort of." He teases back, "the fact that we both have no idea where the classroom in is kind of a give away to the fact that we're both freshman."
"True" i say. We continue to navigate our way through the crowded campus, trying to find the lecture hall. With both of us looking, luckily, we find it within a good five minutes.
"After you good sir" Finn says jokingly, opening the door for me, and gesturing for me to walk in. I laugh at his antics, walking through the door with Finn hot on my heels.
The lecture hall is huge. Much bigger than the tiny high school i went to. Its loud, filled with the chatter of students that occupy most of the seats. I timidly make my way through the isle, avoiding tripping over any book bags that have been carelessly thrown on the floor.
Eventually, I find a seat in one of the middle rows, where not a lot of people are sitting, which i like, because new people make me nervous, and if I'm nervous, i wont be able to concentrate in class. Finn sits down in the open seat on my right, which i don't mind. I peek over at him, only to find him already studying me closely.
