(A/N: double update babyyyyy *loud cheering noises* this chapter is more of Damien and Caleb's friendship, but the next few chapters will be Damien and Teddy fluff, don't worry)

Damien POV:

Getting off the plane ride home was a hassle in and of itself, considering Teddy was deep in little space and demanded to be carried throughout the entire airport. I had to set him down at one point to get our luggage, and he threw a temper tantrum at first, but luckily stopped after being promised cuddles on the taxi ride home.

His regression timing was slightly frustrating, considering we were in a fucking airport, but I didn't blame him for it. He managed to keep himself out of little space all weekend, and I don't know how many times he probably wanted to regress, so I was happy that he was finally able to.

He clung to me like a koala the entire ride home. He eventually fell asleep about 15 minutes into the ride, so I texted Caleb to meet us at my place to help me carry our bags into our apartment, because I knew I wouldn't be able to bring them all in on my own with Teddy clinging to my side.

He must have been pretty tired, because he didn't even wake up when we reached home. He slept soundly through all of the car door slamming and the jostling as I balanced him on one him and tried to pick up a few bags at the same time.

"Thanks man" I said to Caleb as we entered the elevator.

He pushed the level 4 button for me, "Its no problem" He replied, "Teddy must have been pretty tired cause' he's out like a light"

I chuckled, thinking back to how much energy this weekend had drained from the both of us. "Yeah. This weekend was pretty stressful and tiring for the both of us" I responded, earning a understanding hum from Caleb.

"Maybe you can tell me about it once you get him down for a nap" He responded, taking the apartment keys from my hand and opening the door for us.

I left Caleb in the kitchen while I carried Teddy to our room. Originally I was going to put him in pajamas, but then I remembered that he's in sweatpants and a hoodie anyways, so there was really no point. I covered him up with the comforter before turning off the light and exiting the room, making my way back towards Caleb, who was already eating some of the snacks I keep in the pantry.

"So tell me more about your Christmas weekend" He said through a mouthful of goldfish, causing me to cringe in disgust.

People talking with their mouth full has always been one of my biggest pet peeves.

"It was good. His family is crazy, I'm convinced."

"Really?" Caleb asked, leaning forward as if what I was about to tell him was the gossip of the century. I snorted, rolling my eyes at how dramatic he could be sometimes.

"Yeah. His mom hates me."

"Damn"

"Yeah. I don't mind though. The feeling is mutual. She called Teddy a whore multiple times, so she's not someone I respect, Y'know?"

"Understandable. What about his dad?" Caleb asked, shoving another handful of goldfish in his mouth. I shot him a glare, snatching the bag out of his hands. There still needed to be some for Teddy when he wakes up from his nap, these are his favorite thing to eat while he's in little space.

"His dad likes me as far as I know. I mean, the whole family likes me, other than his mom."

"The whole family?"

"Oh yeah— His entire extended family was their for Christmas dinner as well. Fucking crazy"

"Shit" Caleb laughed, raising his eyebrows. "How many of them?"

"Too many to count. I couldn't remember all of their names. All of them are super protective of Teddy though. Despite how much they seemed to like me, I got quite a few glares for not having my hands on top of the dinner table at all times" I laughed, leaning on the kitchen countertop.

Caleb snorted in amusement at my words. "Once again, understandable. I'd be protective of him too if I was his family. He's like a delicate snowflake."

I hummed in agreement. Caleb was right. Thats probably why I wasn't mad that they were constantly making sure I wasn't a threat to Teddy's innocence. If only they knew. Teddy was small and gentle in a lot of senses.

"What about your Christmas?" I asked

"It was pretty good. Kinda boring for the most part. I finally asked Faith out" He responded nonchalantly, although, I knew him well enough to know that he was probably jumping with excitement underneath his calm facade. I knew he had liked Faith for a while now, so I was glad he finally mustered up the courage to tell her.

"Thats good man" I said with a grin, patting him on the shoulder. He stared at me in what seemed like shock, blinking dramatically a few times.

"What?" I asked, confused on why he was looking at me weirdly.

"It's just weird to see you so happy lately. You've been smiling more. It's nice" He responded, giving me a grin. I rolled my eyes. Of course he would make this into a bigger deal than it needed to be.

"Whate—"

"No like seriously! I think this is the first time you've genuinely smiled at me, even though I'm your best friend"

"You make us sound like 6th graders"

"Stop trying to change the subject. You know I'm right"

"No you're not" I argued, scoffing, "I've smiled at you before"

I actually wasn't sure if I had. I'm usually not one for smiling, or showing that much emotion to people. It makes them think that they know exactly how you're feeling, and then they stop asking you how you are, thinking they know already.

"Nope" Caleb replied, shaking his head, "Never."

I rolled my eyes

"Y'know, when we first knew each other. I thought you hated me, because you never smiled— or showed any emotion other than annoyance." He said, tapping his chin as if he was thinking back to 'long ago' when we first met.

"I didn't hate you."

"Coulda fooled me. It took me a long time to realize that you just weren't the type of person to smile, like— ever. It's different to see you so happy that you can't help but show emotion. A good different though. Teddy's good for you."

I met his gaze, a few fond memories of Teddy and I popping up in my head, causing a small smile to form on my face. I glanced back towards the door that separated a sleeping Teddy from my conversation with Caleb.

"Yeah. He makes me happy" I finally replied.

"You know... I'm kinda jealous that you smile at him more than you smile at your own best friend, who you've know for longer" Caleb teased lightly.

"Oh piss off" I scoffed, rolling my eyes at his stupidity. "I don't know why I'm even friends with you"

"I should be the one saying that to you. You don't even laugh at my jokes!" Caleb exclaimed, giving me an incredulous look.

"Thats cause' your jokes suck ass"

"You suck ass!" Caleb argued immaturely, pouting at me like a literal child. Its only cute when Teddy does it.

"You're right. I do. I'm fucking gay you dipshit" I replied.

Caleb let out a bark of laughter at my unintentional joke, shaking his head in amusement. "Alright. Well, I gotta go. I'm taking Faith on a date in a few hours" He said.

"Have fun" I responded, waving at him as he walked out the door, shutting it softly behind him, probably not wanting to wake up Teddy, which I was grateful for. Caleb's an idiot, but at least he's a good friend.

I chuckled, walking back to my room where Teddy was still fast asleep. I took off my jeans and t-shirt before climbing into bed with my little boy, letting myself doze off into my own nap with him in my arms.
