"You wanna go see Michael Jackson at MSG next month?" Kendall questions as we jog around the gym.
I wipe my sweaty forehead, "Those tickets have been sold out since last year."
"I know. My cousin's best friend, older sister brother, girlfriends auntie oldest son works down at the Garden and says he has four tickets."
"How much?"
"It's a really good price for last minute."
"How much?"
"He says he can possibly get us backstage passes."
"How much?"
"Remember we're talking about thee Michael Joseph Jackson."
"Just tell me the damn price." I grumble as we stop near the bleachers.
"150. Each."
"Ah hell no. The regular price was 105."
"Like you said, they were sold out last year man."
"I'll pass, I saw Mike and his brothers in '84. I have money saved up for Valentines Day anyways." I catch my breath.
"The concert can be Katrina's gift! You know how much she loves that man, I'm sure she'll appreciate that more than boring ass flowers and candy." Kendall testifies as we do our finishing stretches.
I look over at Katrina on the stage practicing one of her routines for the Black History Month program for school.
"You see my brother, I'm not gonna give her those typical gifts. She deserves sum' more original." I smirk.
"Whatever you say lover boy, this concert is suppose to be his most anticipated."
"If your so pressed why not go by yourself? Too scared to be in the big ole crowd with people fainting every 2 seconds?" I tease.
"...Yes."
I chuckle, "At least your honest. Why don't you go with Huey?"
"He's a buzzkill. He'll be talking the whole show about Mike's skin change and it'll annoy me." Kendall answers, as we make our way towards the stage.
Me and Huey haven't spoke since the incident in the cafeteria between him and Katrina. I expressed how I felt about him disrespecting my girl and he didn't like me checking him, we started to argue and calling each other out our names and that was it.
I walk up the stage steps and stand to the side to watch Katrina instruct the dancers, "So after the beat drops you slide across the floor, jump and spin. Like this." she does the move effortlessly, "Then start doing the chereo like I showed y'all. Jalen, play the music and girls, throw down."
Jalen plays the mixtape and the girls start to dance, Katrina watches intently. She makes her way over to us.
"You looked good over there, telling them what to do. You're demanding is mad sexy." I whisper in her ear, tugging my finger on the waistband of her leggings to pull her close.
