I downed my third glass of Sex On The Beach as I lazily gazed around the club full of partying people dancing to Jody Watley while I was sitting at the bar all alone.
I twirled the rose in my hand thinking about how I continue to let Javiar play me by standing me up every time I plan something for us to do together. Its like he doesn't care about my feelings. It seems like I'm the only one who's trying to keep this relationship alive, its wilting away like this rose; slowly and agonizingly.
I shifted the itchy wig on my head wanting to take it off. Me and Javi were suppose to be Carmen and Joe from Carmen Jones obviously.
I huffed in aggravation, "I could be home watching Dynasty right now. But no, I'm here by my lonesome wasting my time with a tired excuse for a man."
"Yous look pretty weird talking to yourself. If I didn't know any better, I would've thought yous escaped from a psych ward." a voice from beside me commented.
I looked to my side, "Its pretty annoying when you say you like that. Did you get a proper education?" I questioned.
Henry took a seat on the stool beside me, "I can't help it. Its a Italian thing." he shrugged, fixing his red jacket.
"I guess so."
"Bartender, can I get a glass of Coke and Brandy. Oh, and a bottled water for the lady." Henry asked.
The bartender slid Henry his drink and handed me my bottled water, "I never took you for the drinking type." I took a sip of my water.
"I'm tryna get loose tonight, yous know what I mean?" he bopped his shoulders, sipping his liquor.
I rolled my eyes, "What you know about having fun? You look more like a to yourself guy."
"Says the girl who's sitting by herself at a club on Halloween night." he replied. My jaw dropped before slapping his hand.
"I kid! I kid!" he exclaimed while laughing.
"Mhm. Is Amelia not in attendance tonight?"
"She is. She and her friends are in a section with my friends. It was getting too wild over their for me." he answered.
"What about you? Where's Jose?" he added.
I straight faced him, "Its Javiar."
"Same difference."
"If its any of your business James Dean, which it isn't," I grinned slickly, "he stood me up." my grin dropped.
He tapped my exposed knee, "Hey, yous got me now so it ain't no biggie." he cheesed before going into his pocket pulling out a cigarette.
