7:59am

My hands quickly moved around my desk as I was looking for my house keys. I flipped over papers and books trying to find them, I've been at this for two minutes and I'm already late getting out the house as is so this couldn't get any better.

After finding them under one of my records, I swiftly grabbed my black jacket, book bag and umbrella, leaving my room and jetting down the stairs out the door.

My body clock decided not to work this morning because I was on the phone until after five thirty in the morning. No one was home to wake me up or drive me to school. Now I have to power walk in the rain. How peachy.

I know Karmen and Kendall most likely left our meeting spot at the corner store, I hope their not worrying about my whereabouts. They probably think I stayed home.

Just as I was about to past the store, I heard my name being called from the side of me. I stopped, then looked to my side to see a familiar car parked on the curb. The backseat window rolled down and Kendall poked his head out, "Come with me if you want to live."

Laughing, I speedily walked to the passenger seat opening the door, closing my umbrella then the door. I sighed happily that I was out the rain and in a warm car.

"Where were you girl? You had me worried for a second." Kendall asked, I turned around.

"I woke up late...I had to study for Mrs. Green test." I cut my eyes at Elijah for a second.

"Where's Karm?"

"She had volleyball practice." he answered before pulling out his TV guide from his back pocket.

"So you don't see me right here?" Elijah questioned, I sat back in my seat then looked at him, he had a slight smirk on his lips.

"I'm sorry. Hey Elijah." I smiled showing teeth.

"Wassup," his eyes squinted at me, "you wear glasses?"

I touched them, "Yeah, I didn't have time to put my contacts in."

Elijah put the car into drive and made his way toward the school. My glasses started to get foggy so I took them off to wipe them, "I got a cloth in there." Elijah pointed at his glove compartment.

Opening it, I saw a bunch of cassette tapes and small notepads that have been written in, finally finding the glasses case, I opened it to find the cloth and a pair of circular glasses, "You wear them too?" I chuckled, using the cloth on my glasses.

"Sometimes when I'm driving."

"Uhh, why aren't you wearing them now?" we stopped at a red light.

"He's trying to look cool." Kendall answered.

"I don't have to try fool, it just comes natural." Elijah replies confidently which caused me to grin.

The car began to move again, I put my glasses back on, "And what's with all the cassettes? Are you a serial killer that records all of his murders?" I picked one of them out.

"Nah, I make them just cause, like a playlist ya know. I make some for people sometimes." he glanced at me.

"Hmph. I bet getting a mixtape from Elijah Whitmore is a big deal huh."

"Most def," he nodded like he was bobbing his head to a song, "I make them specifically for that person, the songs have to fit the persons personality and how I feel about them ya dig."
