Chapter XXIII (A Walk Into Bliss)

POV: ???

I haven't slept good in days. I should be happy that I finally am out of the hospital, but for some reason, I'm not. I walk around the empty halls as I think of what's wrong. 

I miss my children. I know that I was the one who vanished them, but I still love them. They are my babies. I need to see them again. I think to myself as I walk to the balcony and stare out into the night. 

POV: Sonic

As we walk down the street, my are intertwined with Shadow's, I let out a sigh of satisfaction. "You know I love you, Right?" I ask as he looks at me with with his head slightly cocked to the side. "That I know, yeah." he says back with a slight grin on his dark peach muzzle. 

"Do you know that I love you?" He asks back as I smirk and stop walking, pulling him close until our noses touch. "What do you think~" I say seductively as I move closer to press my lips against his-

*Insert IPhone Ringtone "Opening" Here*

We quickly pull away blushing as I grab my phone and answer it. "Hello?"

"Hey honey, could you please come to the castle if you're still awake?" My eyes widen when I realize who this was. "Mom?" I say in surprise. I really didn't know what she would want, especially at this hour. 

"I'm sorry if woke you up, I just want to talk." She said over the phone. It sounded somewhat like she had been crying or something before calling. 

"Fine, I'll be there in 10." I say as I hang up. "Who was that?" Shadow asked as I began to change directions. "It was my mother... she wanted to talk." Shadow looked somewhat confused, but he nodded as he walked next to me. 

"So, what do you think she wants?" My ebony boyfriend asked as we walked my the "Welcome To Mobotropolis" sign. "I don't really know. All I know is if she says anything about us, I'm leaving." I said sternly. I really didn't want to have to argue with her, but I would if I had to. 

I'm pretty sure Shads knew that I wasn't in the best mood, but I tried my best to keep calm. Soon enough, we were at the gate to the castle. 

"Sorry sir, you cant come through." the guard said to Shadow as I walked through the gate. "Um, excuse me?"

"Prince Maurice, Queen Aleena said that no outsiders are allowed in." This kind of pissed me off, but I tried my best to keep my composure.  It was rude on the way that the guard referred to Shadow as an "outsider," like he was not as important as me. I understand that I am royalty, but I am as much of a normal citizen as everyone else; wanting to live a normal life rather than being king. 

"Look, I'm not in the mood for this, but if you don't let my boyfriend in with me, I swear to god..." I said with a dead look on my face. "R-Right this w-way sir..." the guard said as he opened the gate. letting Shadow through.

"You know I could've chaos controlled inside, right?" Shadow said, holding my hand as we walked into the castle. "I know, but it just bothered me when he called you an 'outsider'." Shadow's eyes widened. "But I am. I'm not royalty." Shadow said as I put my ears down to that. 

"But you are. A-At least to me you are." I stated, a light blush on my muzzle. "You are my everything Shads. I know this sounds cringy, but it's true. I love you Shads." I pull him a loving kiss, which he quickly accepts and puts his arms around my neck, letting me deepen the kiss. 

After realizing that we were not at home, but in the middle of the doorway of the castle, we slowly separated, but leaving our noses touching. 

"I love you too. Not because your a prince, but because you see me for who I really am." Shadow says as he then pulls me into a hug. I quickly hugged back, pushing my head into his chest fur, but quickly stopped as I felt two orbs stare in my direction. We both turned to face her. 

"Hello, Maurice."
