Chapter III (A Little Bro)

Some time later

POV: Sonic

It's been a week since I've moved into my new house. It's a three bedroom, two bath house. I live just about a mile from the castle. Sonia and Manic have visited me recently and helped me move in. I feel sad for just leaving them, but I need some time to think.

I sat on the couch and started to go through my phone when the sun started to come up. I couldn't sleep so I decided to just stay up tonight.

I went into the kitchen and turned the coffee maker on. I decided that I shout go for a run, it being early with no clouds. I grab my jacket since it is somewhat cold and head outside.

There is a park about ten blocks from the house, so I decide to run there and back. There's a nice scenic route in the park too so I'll take that, and I sped off. I watched as everything to the side of me vacant a endless blur as I sped up. Before I knew it, I was already there.

I slowed down and chose to walk rather than speed through the trail. As I walked down the trail. It started to get somewhat foggy. The moist air leaving condensation droplets on my quills. I then hear something in the bushes.

"Uh, hello?" I say with no response. I continue walking until I stumble across a bench. It wasn't empty though. It was a kid.

Me looked around 8 or 9 and was somewhat skinny. I decide to go investigate the person as I go sit next to him.

"Hey." I say warmly. He looked somewhat shy so I didn't want to make him what. He just raised his hand and kindly gestured. "Are you alone?" I question. All he does is nod. "Do you know where you're parents are?" He shrugs.

"Haven't seen them in months." He replied. The fog started to let up so I got to see more of him. He looked like a yellow/orange fox with... 2 tails!? He looked very weak and malnourished.

I looked I'm at him with kind eyes. "Look, I don't wanna leave you out here. Why don't you come with me to my house. I know I'm a complete stranger, but I want to help you." He looked at me and slowly nodded. I stand up as he follows, as we start walking back to my house.

"Hey, I'm Sonic by the way, what's you're name?" He looked at me a little embarrassed.

"M-Miles... Miles Prower." He looked embarrassed by the name. I rubbed his head which caused him to tense up.

"Hey, if you don't like that name, I'm sure I can find you a nickname..." I notice his two tails, "I know, how about Tails?" He looked at me with a glowing expression. "I like it." He says.

"Ok, Tails it is then."

Later

as we got into the house, Tails was amazed by how it looked. "Hey I'm gonna make something to eat. Do you like chili dogs?"

"What's a chili dog?" He tilted his head and asked.

"Only one of the best foods ever!" I told him and then bag an making some.

After I put some on plates for us, he sat down next to me at the table. "Dig in." I say as I take the first bite of my dog. He did the same and I watched as his eyes lit up as the flavor hit his tongue. "These are really yummy!" He shouts."

"Haha I knew you would like them..."
