chapter 39

Three days later, Jaden woke up.
His eyes slowly opened as he looked around him.
He reached for phone, feeling like it's been days. And yet he didn't answer Lexi's text message.
11th February.
Great, let's spend another year alone on valentines day.
He thought to himself.

He got up and walked to the bathroom realizing he had old blood on his head.
The face he saw in broken mirror, that wasn't him. that wasn't Jaden Hossler. This was some homeless stranger with dark circles under his eyes that uses countless amount of drugs.
He reached for his phone calling Lexi, but she didn't pick up. Of course she didn't, why did he even try?
It took him few minutes to write down few simple words in message for her, before it all came to end.
Sending the text, he found a new box of methamphetamine, sitting down on the floor.

After Lexi sent him birthday message she waited few minutes for response until she gave Josie back her phone before she went to hide it back where it was.
No response killed Lexi as she was already sobbing, having to write down that message for him.
It broke her heart, she had many things on her mind for his 21st birthday, but none of that was possible doing.
She cried herself to sleep once again.

Two days passed by and Lexi's phone started going off, phone call after phone call. It didn't stop.
"Ale!"
Her dad yelled from downstairs, walking to her room and banging on her doors.
"Go away!"
"Answer Addison, she's calling you too many times."
Girl managed to run to her room doors snatching her phone from her dads hand and locking herself back in the room.
"Addi?!"
"Lexi! Finally! Listen, I know you aren't-"
"They took away my phone so I couldn't text Jaden."
"This is about him. I don't fucking know what happened between you guys, but Jaden isn't at his home. He got himself apartment so no one would bother him. Since the day you two broke up. But we had a deal that he'd need to send me a simple text every day to let me know he is okay and alive, but this is second day and he didn't answer me yet. I'm so worried, I need your help."
"W-What?! Are you telling me-"
"I don't know. I need your help we couldn't figure it out where he is."
"I-I don't know. I think I'd need time to figure it out."
"I know but is there any chances for you to come here? I need you right now Lex."
"I- they wouldn't let me."
Girl said walking in her bathroom.
"Listen, I will send you the addy real quick and then, in exactly 2 and half hours you'll be in front of gates. I'll somehow run out. There's no other way, I'm not even talking to my parents."
"Okay. I'm getting in car in few minutes, I need to leave kids with somebody."
"Okay."

The girl hung up sending Addison the address of her house. She quickly handed back her phone to her dad, giving him a death stare before locking herself once again.
She walked in the bathroom hopping in the shower. First shower after God knows how long.
After she got out, she still looked like mess but at least she didn't smell or her hair was dirty.
She braided up her hair, not wanting to sound sus drying her hair first time, right after she talked to one of her closest friends.
She put on sweats and hoodie, getting on some comfy Adidas shoes so she can run without even more problems, knowing she isn't in condition anymore.
She looked on her o'clock before she opened her room doors walking in Nick's room, knowing Josie isn't home.
"Nicky?"
"Hey sis!"
He hugged her tightly making her whine in pain, her body was really weak.
"Sorry."
"It's okay. Listen, I'm about to run out my window. I had to tell somebody, I'll be safe, something's wrong with Jaden and Addison is about to pick me up. I need you to cover up for me, can you do that?"
"Yeah. Promise you'll be safe."
"I promise."
They connected their pinky fingers, after finishing the plan, before she kissed his head, checking the time on his phone.
"Okay, I need to go."
"Good luck sis."
She softly smiled walking quietly in her room and locking the doors. She climbed out her window, her back against the wall as she walked on small part of the wall. She could fall down so easily.
She got to roof of the porch, climbing down before hiding under the stairs.
Nick walked out the house, he told his parents he is going out and got Lexi's phone secretly for her.
They walked to gates, so his parents didn't have idea she was out.
"Thank you little bro."
"Be safe I love you."
"Love you too."
Just at the time Addison pulled up and drove off as fast as possible.
"Gosh are you okay?"
Lexi nodded smiling as she felt tears fill her eyes. She couldn't believe she was out, but the thing that scared her more was what's going on with Jaden.
Girl felt lick on her face before she turned around and saw her favorite - Marley.
She immediately started playing with him, patting him and kissing him. She missed him so much, almost as much as Jaden.

After long ride they got to Addison's house, where Bryce and Josh were already waiting with Nessa.
Everyone was trying their best to find Jaden, but they managed to get Josh and Nessa stay there, knowing that Bryce wouldn't be able to calm down Addison and Lexi alone.
They all hugged her and sat in living room talking about where he could be.

But biggest mistake of Lexi left the phone in car, on accident.

"Wait, where's my phone?"
She asked checking her pocket as everyone shrugged their shoulders.
She walked out the house to see if it's in the car, seeing something she never expected.
She saw one missed call from Jaden. It was literally 10 minutes ago. And then, text message. She opened it, as tears started forming in her eyes.

Dear Lexi, I'm sorry this has to end like this. I'm sorry for everything that happened between me and you, but I'm not and never will be sorry for falling in love with you. For everything we went through, you showed me what love is and I couldn't be more grateful. I love you forever and always, please remember that.
I'd also like to ask you if you could tell everyone I love them and that I don't want anyone being in pain cause of me, I already caused a lot of pain to many different people.
It'll take me time to get from Malibu to your house so I can finally see you, even though you'll not see me, I'll always be there with you.

She started shaking as her phone fell down on the floor, realizing what he is trying to say in those messages.
Bryce walked to front doors to see what took Lexi so much time, seeing her hyperventilating. He quickly yelled for everyone as they all ran to her.
He grabbed her and Nessa picked up her phone from ground reading what Jaden wrote her.
They all were trying to comfort her, not knowing what happened.
"Lexi what's in Malibu?! What's there?! Please think fast!"
She tried thinking about it, but it was hard because of many thoughts going through her head.
"H-He bought apartment t-there."
They all nodded, no one knew what's happening.
They sat in cars while Addison read the message on the phone.
"I can't lose him too! Bryce drive faster!"
"Addison I can't, I'll get literally arrested I'm already going too fast!"
"I don't care! Just drive!"
He speeded up, going really fast. Like really really fast.
Once they got to address Lexi told, them everything happened like it was slow motion.
