"You promised."
Chenyuan is completely exhausted. She needs something to channel, but there's nothing potent enough to handle that large of a spell. Even if her location is sealed and completely far from the fighting scene, she's still there in her mind. She's still fighting for power over the other black witches at Lee Mansion.
This isn't about taking out their witches at this point—this is to earn a higher status and again more leverage to bargain. It's a battle of pride between her and her enemies. She's been holding strong for a while now.
Her soulmate bond is nonexistent now; she can't channel it anymore. The only extra boost in power she has is the ley line she currently stands on top of, serving as an energy producer. Knowing that she can't beat the witch without her channel connection being severed, she immediately calls the emergency contact her brother had given her.
"What the hell do you want?"
Chenyuan rolls her eyes at the monotone voice. "The witch is using a connection, and I need that severed now."
"I thought you were some sort of all-powerful witch. You can't even beat an amateur," the boy on the other line snickers while guiding his team to their next objective.
"And you can't even fight properly, dwarf. So, why don't you take your tiny-ass shoulders and do what I ask?"
"Could you two stop talking?" one of the other hackers calls out, immediately shutting Chenyuan up in embarrassment. She would rather not get called out by a random gang's hacker, especially when she's speaking Chinese.
Renjun chuckles after hearing the line go silent, calling for one of the teams to go take care of this mess. He would've retorted to her, but he has some pride.
Jaemin immediately takes up the job, stealthily moving away from the fighting scene to find the room with the black witch as Renjun now does three things at once—guide his team, look through the cameras to make Jaemin's job easier, and listen to Chenyuan's demonic chanting.
As Jaemin moves through the corridors, he finally stops at one specific door when Renjun tells him to. Slowly, Jaemin opens the door, freezing at the sight in front of him.
A white haze surrounds the girl being channeled, her skin paler than the moon. Her body is slumped in the air, levitating completely unconscious. In any other situation, he would see the sight as ethereal. But seeing his ex-girlfriend, even if he didn't really care about her, sight was more or less horrifying.
There's only one black witch in the room now, leaving themselves extremely unprotected as they channel the poor girl to keep their spell up.
With no hesitation, Jaemin quickly aims, shooting the witch in seconds straight in the heart. All the white haze retracts from the room straight back into the witch before exploding, causing Jaemin to fly back against the wall.
