It's a lil dark... sooo-.
Hey kid.
Long time, how's life?
No need to answer that, I already know it's been bad.
Got a second? I know you do,
come with me now, I've got some advice.Unfortunately, things will remain bad for quite a while,
And you'll go searching for belonging or just a sense of purpose.
Which will slowly turn into a quest for a reason to smile,
Until one day someone will pick you up and bring you to the surface. You'll fill your lungs with this newfound air,
But as you already know, life's nothing but unfair. It'll be a great experience for some time,
you'll feel like everything is fine,
Like you found what's been missing inside.
But don't let yourself fool you.Things will change faster than you can handle.
One day you'll wake up and find out you're abandoned.
You'll scream for help and beg for mercy but you'll get none.
And even those closest to you won't dare come. You'll think you're gonna die and... maybe you should've.
Because the pain doesn't go away,
And you're thoughts are not at bay,
And you want to pull the trigger, and still, you couldn't.The point is.
Everything you've built to from that day,
will come crashing down.
And the harder you try,
the faster you drown. From then on, it's a struggle just to get by.
Everything that once made you happy only makes you feel dead inside.
I wish I could tell you it gets better from then on,
but I won't lie to you, it won't for long.
You'll meet some people who'll make it better
But it never lasts, because all you feel is pressure. But no matter how bad it gets it's not forever,
One day, you'll find that purpose,
you'll find yourself,
you'll find that centre. As time goes by, you'll start to mend.
So no matter how loud the voices get,
no matter how much pain you want to forget,
Don't give up.
Carry on,
It'll all be worth it in the end. With love, always true,
-You.WC: 346

Today's prompt was about writing a character's letter to their younger self. It ended up rhyming quite nicely so I turned it into a 'poem'. <3
