Iris had now reached the final stage in her pregnancy and everyone was getting ready for when Nora was due to arrive. The nursery was finally completely set up and Nora's emblem mobile was gently hanging over the cot while playing a gentle tune of Running Home to You.
Barry was doing his normal duties around the city. But he also tried to leave some of it to the rest of the team due to the fact that Iris was due any day now.
After finishing with some meta human problems, Barry went to CCPD to follow up on some last minute case files. During that time, a few officers stopped by his lab to ask how everything was going with the fact that him and Iris were about to have the baby. Barry expressed that although he was extremely excited, he was really nervous. One of the officers told him it was normal for new parents. Even though Barry had already met his daughter as an adult, he thanked the officer for saying that. It gave him something to not stress over.
After finishing at CCPD, Barry went to Star Labs. He and the team chatted for a while, all feeling excited for the arrival of Nora. For a few hours, they talked about the memories of future Nora being apart of Team Flash and also their joy and excitement to finally see Nora again after what happened.
Then, Barry went back to the loft. When he got there, he found Iris in the kitchen, cooking something. Barry started to feel worried for Iris. He knew that she needed to rest because of how pregnant she was.
"Iris, how about I finish the cooking. You go and sit down on the couch" Barry told her. Iris turned around to look at him.
"I don't particularly want to feel useless just because I'm pregnant" Iris told him.
"I know. It's just, with how far you are into the pregnancy, you really need to be resting your feet and your back" Barry told her. Iris sighed slowly.
"Fine. I'll go and sit down" Iris told him as she walked away from the stove. She kissed Barry and then walked over to the couch and sat down. Barry walked into the kitchen and continued the cooking.
"Oof" Iris suddenly said in a tone of discomfort.
"You ok?" Barry asked.
"Yeah. I'm glad I sat down. My lower back is really hurting" Iris answered.
"Do you need something to help soothe it?" Barry asked.
"No it's ok. I've got my pillow" Iris told him, referring to her pregnancy pillow beside her.
"Ok. Just let me know if you need anything" Barry told her.
"Will do" Iris said back.
AN HOUR LATER
Barry had finished making the food and now putting some into two bowls. One for him and one for Iris. He then grabbed some spoons and brought the bowls over to the couch. He then handed Iris's bowl to her as he sat down.
"How're you feeling now?" Barry asked.
"Sore. But I guess that's normal when it comes to being pregnant" Iris told him, smiling. Barry smiled at that as well.
"How's the food?" Barry then asked her.
"It's good. Really good" Iris told him.
"I'm glad" Barry smiled. Iris smiled back.
Suddenly, Iris shut her eyes quickly in pain. Barry noticed this. He quickly put down his bowl and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Iris? You ok?" Barry asked in a worried tone.
"Not really. Just felt a sharp pain in my lower abdomen" Iris told him. Barry looked at her with wide eyes. With what Iris just described, he knew what this meant.
"We need to get to Star Labs" Barry told her.
"Barry, I'm sure it's nothing. You need to stop worrying" Iris told him, putting down her bowl.
"Iris, please. Just listen to me for once please?" Barry asked. Iris sighed a little.
"Fine. But I'm telling you....everything is ok" Iris told him as she slowly stood up.
Suddenly, she hunched forward a little and grabbed onto Barry. Barry asked if she was ok. She looked down and gasped before looking back up at him.
"My water just broke" Iris told him. Barry stood there in utter shock for a few minutes.
"We need to go" Iris told him. Barry nodded. He then hauled her into his arms and sped off. Straight for Star Labs.
STAR LABS
As Caitlin and Cisco sat in the cortex, talking about a few things, Iris and Barry suddenly appeared in the cortex in front of them.
"Caitlin, get the med bay ready" Barry told her. Caitlin looked at Iris and realised that Iris was now having contractions. She rushed to the med bay. Barry followed after her.
"I'll call the rest of the team" Cisco said, grabbing out his phone.
