"Arie, wake up, you have to go to school!" My mom screamed from the kitchen.

I sat up and my notebook fell off my chest. I picked it up and placed it on my bed before going into my bathroom. I stripped my grungy clothes off and flicked them into the laundry basket. I stepped into the steaming shower and washed all the grim away. Stepping out I dried my hair and pulled it into a dancers bun.

I grabbed a floral printed dress and a pair of black combat boots before swinging a necklace over my neck and clasping a bracelet onto my left wrist. Grabbing my notebook and bag I ran down the stairs and into the kitchen.

A pop tart popped up in the toaster and I took it without a glance. My mom handed me some milk and I sat down on a bar stool sighing heavily. I ate my pop tart and drank the small glass of milk when I heard a honk outside my house.

"Oh, do you have a ride?" My mom asked.

"No, not any that I planned."

I grabbed my stuff and opened the door. Of course, it was Brad. I said goodbye to my mom and climbed in the truck.

"Good morning." He smiled.

"Stalking me, are you?" I joked.

"No, just thought I'd be a nice person and pick you up."

"Thanks but are you being serious?"

He furrowed his eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

"You seriously want to be friends with me?"

"Yeah, why not? You seem like an amazing person."

"You don't know the half of me..." I mumbled.

School was boring and gloomy as usual. I drew my way through it and felt like Jack from Titanic. When it came to lunch I was quiet because I was drawing a picture of a little girl playing in a yard with her dad. I bowed my head and threw my whole lunch away without any thought. I knew I would be hungry later but I wasn't hungry right now.

"You alright?" Brad asked.

I shook my head, stood up grabbing my things and walked away.

"Arie!" Brad yelled. "Where are you going?"

"To be alone," I sighed. "I need to think some."

I sat on the stage for a few minutes before Brad found me.

"Tell me." He said seriously. I broke down crying but I told him everything. From my dad in jail to my brother in college and my past that I regret and just why I don't trust people.

"Shhhh," He cooed. "It's alright, you can trust me and my friends." I sniffed and he hugged me tight.

"Can I show you something?" I asked.

"Yeah, sure."

"Okay."

I plugged my iPod into the speaker and my song came on and I started my solo dance to it. I turned and jumped and ran and fell and he was amazed.

"That was amazing Arie!" He hugged me again but much tighter.

"Can you buy me a drink? I forgot money..."

"Absolutely!" He took my arm and my bag and we skipped down the hall and into the lunch room. He bought me chocolate milk (my favorite) and I chugged the whole bottle.

"You feel better now?" He asked.

"Yeah. I do."

The bell rang and we walked to our algebra 2 class together. This was the one and only class we had together.

Inequalities and equations and a whole bunch of crap that the people of the world had to create to torture inicint little souls.

The hour passed slowly, I thought my head would pop listening to that stupid teacher blab on. I think I'll live.

I have friends that care now, maybe I can do this whole high school thing.
