Bradley's POV
I watched the cops drag her mom out of the room. I watched her thrash around screaming bloody murder. I ran over to her. She panicked and huddled in a ball. I picked her up and carried her. Her arms around my shoulders and her head tucked into my armpit.
I looked at her legs and arms. They were beat up and bruised. A dark purple one sat right on her cheek. I carefully went down the stairs and outside the house. I handed her over to the EMT and asked if I could come with her. They were unsure at first but said yes.
I hopped in and planted a kiss on her lips. I held her hand and held it to my mouth. I didn't let go of her. She was like fragile glass. She was precious like a China collection. Like a little girls favorite doll.
When we got to the hospital the doctors main was to see if she had internal damage. If not she could go home tomorrow. I sat in the emergency room waiting for a least an hour or two. The doctor emerged and motioned me forward.
"Her vitals are fine. She has some internal bruising but she should be fine. She's been asking for you also..."
"Can I see her?" I asked worried and impatiently.
"Yes... We moved her up to a regular room for better surroundings. If you'll follow me..."
So I did. I followed the doctor up a flight of stairs and down a long hallway until he stopped at a door.
"She's in there." I opened the door and he walked away. Her eyes were closed but I could tell she was still awake.
I sat down on a fold out chair and took her hand in mine. I looked at her skinny fingers and bony hand. I sighed. Her fingers laced through mine and I smiled some.
"Don't worry, I'll be okay one day." She whispered.
"As long as I'm here you'll be protected. I promise to protect you Arie... Now sleep, you need it..."
I got up and sat down in a comfy sofa chair. I moved a bit to get situated and fell asleep myself.
