-- Lily's POV --

The day didn't go that bad considering how it had started. I learn't how to make it around with pretty much Grace by my side the whole day. Potions was fun. I was sitting next to James and he was really nice. And kept making silent jokes with me. Also the medicine Madame Pomfrey gave me works wonders. Litterally, I haven't felt the pain for three hours now. But then i might just be overdosing. I don't know.

I managed fine through transfiguration, and charms was charming. Except for the ton of homework due next week.

Speaking of homework, I really need to get to it. But right now I'm sleepy, and so that is what i shall do. It's only 9:30, but last night was messed up, so yeah.

"Night Grace." I muttered over my bed, to a very flustered Grace, who as usual was trying to finish off her work, due to the great procastinator that she is.

"Hmm." She muttered back, deep in thought. I closed my eye's and pretty much fell asleep the next second.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I woke up. As I slowly opened my eyes I realised the light was so dim, there was no need to squint. I glanced over at my watch, 6:10! Wow. That's early. I guess that's what sleeping really early does to you.

Quidditch only starts in an hour and a half, but breakfast starts soon. I guess I could have an early one.

I groggily swung my legs out of the bed, and moved my ankle around a little. It pained much less, I still fliched, but I could tell it was healing.

I slowly made my way to the bathroom, and had a quick shower, brushed my teeth, and my hair, before getting to my wardrobe to wear my clothes.

When I was done, i quickly dumped some books into my bag, and left it on the side of my bed. I would generally take it to breakfast,  but it was only 6:40, and I'd come back with Grace after practice, for her to get her stuff.

As i left the warmth of the dorm, and common room behind, I started to shiver as I walked more out into the wind. The chills travelling down my back. The sun was just rising, and the sky was orange, and inviting. I hugged myself tighter as I slowly walked to the hall.

When I got there, the Gryffindor table was litterally empty. I saw there wasn't even hash browns there yet. I walked over to the Ravenclaw table, where some of the kids were sitting, and where there was hash browns.

I went, and leaned over to pick up a few, when i realised I was standing next to Mac. I took one, and turned to face him. He was reading a book, what it was I couldn't tell. "Um. Hey?" I asked slightly doubting if it was ok. "Oh! Um. Hi." He said sliding over on the bench to make room for me. Even though the whole table was kind of empty.

I cautioussly sat, as I held out my hand, "Lily Evans. I'm sure you know me. I'm Emma's best friend."  I caught myself calling Emma my best friend, even though I didn't really know what we were. Oh well.

"Morris Alvin Clint. Or Mac, like everyone calls me." He said taking my hand and shaking it. "Right." I replied taking a bite of my hash brown.

The scilence was awkward for a minute, but I knew I wasn't going to be able to get past it, untill we talked about it. " Look Mac, I don't know what you told Emma, but you got this weird notion that I like you. And I do. But as a friend. So please don't mess it up. I would still like to be friends with Emma and you. And I -"

"Look I get it. I didn't expect Emma to take it so seriously. I'm sorry if I messed things up for you. And being friends sounds fine." He finished, stopping my rambling, and making things slightly awkwardly clear.
