-- James's POV --
I followed her footsteps down the hall, and out into the yard. I looked under the shed, and immediately knew I no longer needed the map.
"Mischief managed." I whispered to the map, I closed and I tucked it back into my pocket. As I looked back at her. She was staring aimlessly into the sky, deep in thought. She wasn't crying and, by the looks of it she hadn't been, but I knew that she was holding back the tears.
She's beautiful was all I could think to myself. I could stand there staring at her all day but if the cold wind from the rain was still blowing and I'd rather enjoy keeping her close and warm, than letting her freeze to death in front of me.
I finally managed to get my feet to move from their spot, and walked up to her. You'd think that after all this time, I'd be able to walk up to her with ease, but I always get this feeling. She noticed me, but stayed silent. She had a tear on her cheek that I hadn't noticed before. Or did it just come? I sat down, and gently wiped it away from her face. She sat there absolutely still. For a long time, we sat there wordlessly. Eventually, her tears took her over, and slowly, quietly they slid down her face. I pulled her onto my chest, and lay there.
She wasn't crying like before, but I could feel her jerk with every sob. A minute later she shook out words, from her shaky lips. "How could they?" She took a deep breath, sobbed for a second, and spoke again. "They've been my mates for seven years!" This time her voice was stronger, louder, sharper. But still broken.
She pulled away from my chest, and screamed at the top of her voice. "HOW COULD THEY JUST DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!?" The anger in her voice was so evident, it shocked me for a second.
Then she came sobbing down on my chest again. All the while I sat there silently, patting her head as gently as I could, just like my mom used to when I was scared. After all, sometimes silence is what people need.
"I'm sorry. You're probably lost. Emma and Grace. They - they-" She took in a deep breath and tried to speak again.
"They thought - " I cut her off. Silence might speak a million words, but sometimes, only a few are all that's necessary, It really would be even crueller, now that i already knew the story.
"Shh.. It's okay" I pulled her in and whispered into her ear "I already know. They told me." Her eyes flew up to meet mine. "How could they?" She whispered. The three words spoke all her thoughts at once.
This time I chose silence, and let her head rest on my chest. Each one of her sobs felt like an arrow to my heart. I couln't bear to see her like this. I wanted her to be happy. I looked up at the sky, the strong wind from before had cleared the sky completely. The moon and the stars were the second most beautiful things in the world. The first was right under my nose, sobbing her eyes out. And I couldn't do anything about it.

-- Grace's POV --
At this point, I'm really willing to give everything up, and just go to sleep forever.
Even though it seems like Emma or Lily would be having the harder time, they're not. Just imagine. They're too busy thinking about what happened to themselves. But I have to be there for both of them. Except I really haven't been there for lily at all, and it's eating me up from the inside.
