— Emma's POV —

"Morris?" I asked softly. It was almost pitch black. Mac had asked me to meet him next to the potions class. He hadn't even told me why. Only a small whisper during dinner, "Behind the potions class, shortly after 11:30 tonight, I'll be there." It was ambiguous and put me on edge. Even through the whole Lily thing, this was at the back of my mind.

"Mac?!" I said a little louder, and much more worried. No response. "If you're trying to be romantic and surprise me, now is the time to yell surprise." Still no response. I stopped walking. This was not okay.

Suddenly a loud clang resonated through the hall. It was the sound of a cauldron falling. I would have screamed if my voice hadn't caught in my throat out of fear. I wasn't even breathing. "Really boy?! you had one job! I thought he was a good student." I heard screaming from the room, and didn't move. "I - I -" "Shut up boy."

My eyes widened. That was Mac's voice. I walked to the door of the class, on my tiptoes, very silently. The door was slightly open already, so I peeked into the room. On the other side of the class I could make out four figures; one was holding another by the shirt against the wall. I guess that poor boy is probably Mac.

What did he get himself into? Why did he call me here? Is this an accident?

Then the guy holding Mac (I think) dug his hands into Mac's pockets (I think), and pulled out a fairly big flask containing a glow-in-the-dark green liquid.

It lit up the room slightly, and could make out a few of the guy's features. The boy being held was some kid i didn't know. but he was being held by Ross, evil, horrible, mean Ross Blant. Even though I didn't know who the kid was, I couldn't care less. You don't treat anybody like that."Humph. It's not enough. How can we even be sure it works?" another boy asked Mac, both of them were just standing there, the other voice was familiar, but i didn't really focus enough to recognize it.

"It works. You become invisible and undetectable as long as you are touching the potion. As soon as you let go, all powers are lost. Now give me the potion." Mac stumbled over his words. I almost gasped out loud in shock, but I controlled myself and just gritted my teeth. Morris has some explaining to do.

I waited quietly for a few minutes before the boys left, and then Mac followed. They parted ways, and when the boys left Mac turned and looked around. That was when I apprehended him, angry and confused.

"You make weird potions and give them to your bully Ross Blant so that he can break school rules like the idiot he is? Have you made him your friend now and you just make him seem like a bully so that I can stand up for you when he was your friend all along?! I stood up for you all these months, I was even your girlfriend, partly to make him jealous, but mostly because I thought you were a decent guy and I trusted you too I mean how long has this been going on for? Was I just your girlfriend for you to gain popularity?" I was almost screaming by the end of it, a few tears spilling over my eyelashes. "Hush Emma - " I cut him off. "Don't you hush me, Morris." I was just getting madder. He looked around and took me by hand to guide me somewhere.

I yanked away. "I will follow, thank you very much." The words were cold and mean.

"No, Emma, look! It was just something I wanted to try! I mean, I have made one or two potions for Ross before but that was to help him pass his exams!" Morris pleaded for me to listen. I had given up a long time ago. I thought I knew Mac, I thought he told me everything. Merlin. I can't. Just no.
