Narrator POV

"What are you two doing?" A confused Kacie scanned the room.

"Kacie! How are you, what happened?" Megan ran to her. Stopping before reaching her, Megan watched Kacie's playful smirk fall slowly

"Fifty Hail Marys" Bryce said sarcastically.

"Nothing happened, you should go get dressed before Catherine comes back though" Kacie smoothly walked to her bed with her head hung low

Megan opened her mouth to say something but thought it best to walk away. She grabbed her things and walked out the door to the girl's bathroom. Megan wanted to go in there and start a random cheer that'll make her feel better but she knew Kacie wasn't the cheerleader type. She also wanted to get away from Bryce.

As she sped towards the bathrooms Megan tried her best to calm her butterflies. She didn't know why but Bryce just always made her so glittery and anxious. That's something she couldn't afford here, she was supposed to feel that for her boyfriend not some random girl.

Megan knocked on the door but there was no answer. She knocked again, harder, still no answer. Knocking once last time Megan huffed. "Come on Emma you've been in there forever."

"You wanna use my bathroom?"

Megan turned to see Ari standing at the top of the stairs. The floors were really old and creaky, they made a sound when someone breathed a certain way. So Megan was a little confused on she got there without a sound.

"How-...Uhh...I'll try one more time and if she doesn't answer then-" Megan started.

"Go use her bathroom!" Emma yelled from behind the door.

"Uh- I guess I'll use your bathroom" Megan turned and smiled at Ari.

They started to make their way towards Ari's room, which had its own bathroom, and Megan couldn't help but look at Ari's feet as they walked. The floor seemed to swallow her footsteps yet echo Megan's.

Before they got to Ari's door, Megan turned to see Bryce knocking on the bathroom door. "You've had you're turn, let me in"

The bathroom door flung open instantly and the blonde stepped out of the bathroom smiling from ear to ear "Sorry, I was just curling my hair."

"That basic bitch." Megan rolled her eyes as she watched in disbelief.

Laughing Ari added "Could she be more obvious"

"I thought the point was to STOP liking girls not simping over them" Megan stepped into the room.

Closing the door behind them "Love works in mysterious ways"

"That it does." Megan sighed

"Oouu I'm sensing a lil pain. You're not jealous are you?"

"Wha- no. I was just thinking about the reason I'm in here" Megan sat the bag carrying her toiletries down on Ari's bed.

"Who was she?"

"She was my best friend."

"Did you love her?"

"More than anyone in the entire world"

"What about your boyfriend"

"I think I just admired him or thought he was a really nice guy who I felt pressured to say yes too. She, she was...everything to me." Megan quickly wipes a tear away from her cheek. "I'm so sorry I don't know why I got so emotional"

"Well you just got here and I can tell you care about her a lot, plus she's kinda the reason you're in here."

"I'm just gonna go get ready before Catherine come to check on us." Megan stood up and ran to the bathroom.

"Do you need help?" Ari smiled softly.

"I'll figure it out."

The door closed softly behind Megan and Ari simply got up and walked out of the room, trying to give her some privacy.

Megan slowly turned the knob and let the water turn on. As she waited for the mirror to get foggy she couldn't help but think of Alison. A picture of her best friend dressed in their cheerleading uniform smiling at her as she sat in their favorite booth at Rosie's Diner.

As she stepped in the shower she closed her eyes and let the water run down her back. The heat from the shower felt like a warm hug. Letting her shoulders fall in relaxation, she let herself believe that it was Alison giving her a deep hug and she would turn around, wake up, and this would all be an awful dream.

Megan's eyes opened slightly, only to disappointment. She just wanted to be home again, in Alison's embrace, kissing her soft lips. She knew Alison was probably pretending she hated her right now. Pretending to be disgusted with her friends actions to cover for herself but Megan loved her. She was her first everything, Alison felt like safety in the middle of a storm.

"Okay ladies today we are going to start you on your new curriculum before we continue our lessons." Catherine smiled at the girls from the front of the class room.

Ariana waddled as she passed out the heavy stack of pink books. Looking down at the books Ari said "Uh-...What lesson plan is this?"

"The only lesson plan you need to know." Catherine smiled politely.

"There's only pictures about housekeeping and makeup" Bryce said as she flipped through the pages of the book.

"Mmhm yes,"

"We can't graduate by just learning about dusting floors." Bryce closed the book.

"You mop floors not dust them. Besides women don't need education if they are able to find nice husbands and be good housewives."

"What the fu-"

"I would be very careful with what I say next Ms. Augustine." Catherine's lips pursed.

"Your last name is Augustine?" Giggled Emma.

"Yup" Bryce rolled her eyes and hung her head low, her black hair hanging in front of her face.

"Like  Augustine Enterprises" Megan stared in awe.

Bryce looked up and stared directly into Megan's eyes causing a shiver to go through Megan's body. Silence took over the room as the girls held intense eye contact.

"Well, let's continue with lesson 1. Vacuuming" Catherine clapped her hands, bringing everyone's attention back to the front board.
