We started our first challenge immediately. A 50 meter sprint. Not too hard, if we can use our quirks. I busy myself thinking of different ways to use my quirk to my advantage while my classmates are racing. The best score so far came from the glasses kid, but he has literal engines on his calfs so it would just be embarrassing for him to lose. Finally it's my turn, and I seem to be racing alone, much to my dismay. Wait. Correction. I am racing a school uniform. It takes me a few seconds to realize that there is clearly a girl with an invisibility quirk. It's pretty cool and all, but it won't help her beat me.

I prepare myself to run, my arms extended behind me with my palms facing back. When the horn sounds my legs start moving as fast as they can, and with the help of the engine like bursts I make from shooting energy out my hands, I cross the end line with a time of 4.18 seconds, way ahead of my competitor. Ochaco approaches me and tells me I did great before we make our way over to the next tests.

Sit-ups and toe touches were next, and both were tests I couldn't exactly use my quirk to help me out. However, all the training I did over the summer is gonna come in handy. I reach across and touch my toes with ease, and I was one of the top in our class in that category. However, we needed to find a partner for sit-ups, and since Ochaco already went with Midoriya, I was left to fend for myself. As I looked around for someone without a partner, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and there stands the red and white haired boy that sits behind me in class.

"Do you have a partner?" He asks quietly.

"Not yet, but I'd like to be your's," I reply.

He just smiles a bit and motions for me to follow him to a nearby mat.

As we wait for Mr. Aizawa to find and start the one minute timer, I try to make small talk so we don't just sit in awkward silence.

"I'm Y/N Y/L/N by the way, but you can call me Y/N," I start.

"I'm Shoto Todoroki," he says. "Do you want to go first?"

"Sure."

And with that I lay down as he pushes down on my feet to prevent me from moving. When Mr. Aizawa starts the timer, I start my sit-ups, getting 39 by the time it's done. Not bad. Now that it's Todoroki's turn, we switch positions so he can do his. It takes all my strength to hold his feet down, and just like me, he doesn't seem to have a quirk that's useful for this test. In the end he surprises me by getting 51 sit-ups, way better than my score.

"Hey that wasn't half bad," I say as I hold out a hand to help him up.

"You did good too," he says, taking my hand.

I help him up before waving goodbye as we walk over to start the next test.

The next 2 tests went by pretty quick, just grip strength and side steps, both of which I did pretty good on. For the grip strength I focused my energy into compressing the small gadget in my hand, and I wound up with a solid 218 kg. With the repeated side steps I used a similar tactic as the 50 m sprint, and created small blasts of energy to push myself back and forth.

Moving on to the standing long jump, I once again used the same tactic as the sprint, and cleared the sandbox. After that we went on to do the task I least looked forward to, long distance running. We had to run 2 laps around all of UA, and although I went on a long run almost every morning as part of my training, I still dreaded it. But this time was different as we could use our quirks. Using small and staggered energy blasts, I came in 4th place, after glasses, Bakugo, and Todoroki.

We finally moved on to the test I awaited the most, the soft ball throw. Many of my classmates had pretty average throws, and no one managed to top Bakugo. However, that was until Ochaco stepped up.

"Infinity!?!?" Yells Kirishima.

"How is that even possible?!?!" A guy with yellow hair says.

I'm definitely impressed, but anyone who knew Ochaco's quirk was zero gravity, which she had told me back in class, would see that coming. However, I still congratulate her when she comes back to the line. I'm up next, an awful time to go after a throw like Ochaco's. When I step into the circle, I focus all of my energy into my right hand. I take a few steps back and rip that ball as hard as I can, I streak of dark blue energy coming out behind it, until it's out of sight.

"701.4 meters," Mr Aizawa announces.

"Man, I was so close to beating Bakugo," I think to myself.

Finally, it's Midoriya's turn. Ochaco and I wish him good luck as he steps into the circle, before putting everything he can into his throw, but it falls short, as in, about 5 meters away.

That's when we notice Aizawa's hair floating. He canceled Midoriya's quirk. It didn't make sense why, but after going to talk to him, Midoriya is given another throw. This one goes the same, but at the last second he suddenly gets a huge burst of power, hurtling the ball out of sight. Although he managed to beat Bakugo by one decimal point, he seemed to have injured his finger. Weird.

We all gather around Mr. Aizawa, anxious to know who was getting sent home. Although I knew it wasn't going to be me, I was curious to find out the scores. Mr. Aizawa projects a leaderboard with all our names on it, based on how useful our quirk is overall. I find my name pretty quickly. 3rd place. Not too bad. First came Yaoyorozu, then Todoroki, me, followed by Bakugo, Ida, and so on. However, I couldn't help but notice that Midoriya came in last. I thought he did great on the softball throw, but clearly the man in charge thought otherwise.

"This is the order I came up with, but don't worry, no one's getting sent home."

A collective sight of relief is heard, especially from Midoriya.

"You guys really believed him? Guess I should've said something earlier," says Yaoyorozu.

"Yeah, you should've," Kirishima says.
