Chapter 9 - The USJ (Pt 3)

"We're saved!" I hear Mineta yell from somewhere behind me.

All might makes quick work of the few villains standing at the bottom of the stairs, before picking Sue, Mineta, and Mr. Aizawa up and bringing them out of harm's way. He then attacks the creature, so quick that my eyes can't keep up. But he seems to have trouble with it. Clearly the villains brought it for a reason, and that reason most likely has to do with All Might.

"Just leave this to me young ones," All Might says, and we all back off.

We all observe the fight from a distance. It seems to be a 1v1 battle for the most part, but it still looks like All Might's in a bit of trouble. He holds his own against the creature though, who of which I heard get called Nomu by the blue guy. All seems to start going in All Might's favour, until the purple warp gets involved.

All Might had the Nomu in his grasp, ready to slam it down, before out of nowhere, the warp splits Nomu in 2, the upper half grabbing All Might by his sides, piercing his skin. The warp spreads around All Might's feet, and as he starts to fall in, it closes, holding him in place. The warp slowly starts to get smaller, and I don't know what I can do to help at the moment.

While we're all frozen to the ground, Midoriya comes out from behind me, and goes to punch the villain. However, the warp sees this coming, and opens up a portal for his hand to go right through. However, Midoriya's attack is followed up by Bakugo, who makes an explosion, disrupting the warp's focus. Todoroki helps out next, with a shot of ice that holds Nomu down. It seems Midoriya's attack snapped everyone out of their trance, and I quickly scold myself for not doing the same.

Bakugo now has the warp guy by his stomach, while Todoroki's ice has Nomu trapped. All Might has escaped now, and although he seems fine, there's a lot of blood coming out his side, and I can't help but worry. Clearly I'm not the only one though, as Midoriya seems more freaked out about it than I am. I don't think much of it though, he's always been pretty sensitive.

"Now I suggest you don't move or I'll blow you up so bad the authorities will have to piece you back together," says Bakugo, looking down at the warp.

"Now that doesn't sound very heroic," says Kirishima.

"He's right Bakugo. Besides, I bet you couldn't do it even if you tried," I say to edge him on.

"Yeah, well I don't see you extras doing anything to help right now!" He yells.

"I mean technically you've got a point. But the warp guy's immobilized, Nomu is frozen, and pale face can't do anything unless he touches you so... technically our help isn't needed," I say, and Bakugo just scoffs in response.

However, just as those words leave my mouth, a loud cracking noise is heard. I return my attention back to Nomu, who has just broken the ice off his arms. Except his arms kinda came off with it.

"I mean if he just wants his legs to fight with that's fine by me," I say with a shrug. That is, until the flesh on his shoulders starts to move, and suddenly, two new arms have grown back in replacement of the others.

"Oh c'mon! Is that even fair?" I whine.

"I thought you said his quirk was shock absorption?" Says All Might.

"I did. But I guess I forgot to mention his regeneration quirk as well," says Shigaraki.

Before I can even blink, Nomu takes off, right for Bakugo. I try to use my telekinesis to pull him out of harm's way, but he's too fast. Just as I get a hold of Bakugo with my quirk, Nomu makes contact, and the force used in that punch blows all of us back

"Shit, I was too slow," I say, picking myself up off the ground. I can only hope Bakugo somehow managed to dodge it.

"Kacchan!" Yells Midoriya, clearly having the same thoughts as me.

But when the dust clears, Bakugo is no longer there. And on top of that, there's a huge whole in the wall to my left. My eyes widen. There's no way he could have survived that.

"Kacchan?" Says Midoriya. "Wait, you dodged that??"

I look down to my left, and see an unharmed Bakugo sitting there.

"No I didn't, you damn nerd!" He says.

"But, who?" Starts Midoriya.

That's when All Might emerges from the wall, a bit beat up, but alive. He must've pushed Bakugo out of the way just in time. I guess that's why he's the number one hero.

"He's just a kid, and you didn't hold back. You would've killed him." Says All Might.

"Yes but, your student didn't hold back against me," Shigaraki says, referring to Midoriya's missed punch earlier. "And besides, if one of your own is in need of help, you must present it."

Almost immediately, Nomu and All Might engage in close combat again, but this time, All Might seems to have the upper hand. As Nomu is losing, the warp tries to intervene once again, but this time I'm ready. I focus the energy into a barrier that separates the fight from the warp guy. All Might proceeds to grab onto Nomu, and even in both Shigaraki's attempts to disintegrate the barrier, which I have to keep replenishing, and the warps attempts to break it down, they're too late. All Might full on yeets Nomu out of the building, even farther than Bakugo threw that softball.

Just then, the pro heroes arrive, and Snipe takes a few shots, as the bullets penetrate Shigaraki's arms and legs. The two villains are forced to retreat, and only once they leave do I bring the barrier down.

When I first bring it down, I almost lose my footing. The many times I had to regenerate it when the villains tried to break it down greatly lowered my stamina. On top of that, the pain from my cut arrives again, except much worse. Todoroki's cooling effect has worn off, and in the fight, I must've made it bigger. The adrenaline I felt has worn off, allowing me to experience the tiredness and pain, and just before I collapse, I feel two strong arms wrap around my waist and hold me up.

"You good Y/N?" Todoroki asks.

"Yeah, just a bit tired, and I think my cut opened up a bit more. Thanks for the catch," I respond.

He props me back up to my feet.

"What cut were you talking about Kayla?" Asks Kirishima with worry, as the others run over to us.

I lift my shirt up a bit, and just as I thought, the cut has almost doubled in size, and pain.

"We got caught up in a bit of a sneak attack," I explain. "I'll live though, it just hurts a bit."

Todoroki puts his hand to my stomach once more, and uses his cooling to numb the pain. I let out a sigh of relief.

"Thanks again," I say, looking at him with a smile, as we start to walk back up to our classmates. I could've sworn I saw a bit of colour on his cheeks, which isn't typical for him, but quickly dismiss it. He must just be tired from the fight.

He gives me a small smile back in response, and we walk the rest of the way in silence, still a bit surprised at what just went down.
