Chapter 17 - The Finals

Everything goes black.

I wake up in a hospital bed, recovery girl standing next to me.

"Oh thank god your up. I wasn't sure how long you'd be out for," she says.

Out for? What happened that knocked me unconscious again? Oh right. I remember my battle against Todoroki. The last thing I could do was try to stop myself from flying out of bounds, but I still don't know if it worked or not. I'm not even sure if I won.

"How long was I out for?" I ask.

"Only about half an hour, which is surprising. You took quite the hit," she responds. "But you have some friends waiting for you outside if you'd like to see them."

"Yeah sure," I say. "You guys can come in if you want!"

Ochaco is the first one through the door, and she practically tackles me in a hug. She is followed by Midoriya, Kirishima, Kaminari, Mina, and finally, Todoroki.

"Y/n! I was so worried about you!" Says Ochaco, still squeezing me alive. "You hit that forcefield so hard! Your lucky you didn't break anything!"

"Yeah I agree. That was a sick match," says Kaminari.

"Yeah and that last move was so manly! About to black out and you still created something to stop yourself from going out," adds Kirishima.

"Wait, the forcefield worked?" I asked. "I wasn't sure."

"Yup! And guess what! You still have to go play Bakugo! Everyones waiting!" Says Mina.

Wait. Did she say play Bakugo? Does that mean-"

"That was a good fight," says Todoroki as he sticks his hand out. I shake it.

"Wait I'm so confused. What happened exactly?" I ask.

"Well basically you both got hit by each others attacks, and you blacked out because of it. But you stopped yourself from going out of bounds with that forcefield," explains Ochaco.

"And Todoroki here was too close to the out line when he got hit, so he had no time to react and stop himself." Adds Mina.

"And even though technically you were KO'd, they ruled that Todoroki was out of bounds first, so you won," finishes Kirishima.

"But anyways, congrats! We'll leave you with Todoroki cause I think he has something to say," says Mina with a wink, and she gets a glare in return.

"Now c'mon guys, let's go!" She says, pushing everyone but Todoroki out.

I sit up on the bed, anxious to hear what he's gonna say.

"I-" He starts. "I'm sorry I used my fire on you. I didn't think it would come down to it and I didn't think to stop it in time."

"Oh Todoroki don't worry about it! You did what you had to to try to win." I say.

"But you were burned pretty bad, that is, before recovery girl healed it," he says worriedly.

"But it didn't even hurt! So..." I say.

"Well yeah, that's cause you knocked yourself out with your own forcefield," he says with a smile.

"Mhm hmm, and tell me, who was the winner again?" I ask with a pout.

"You silly. It was a pretty smart move but still. But anyways, thank you. It was a great fight, I had fun," he says.

"Me too! But I'm counting that as payback from the heroes vs villains challenge," I say with a smug look on my face.

"Right, I guess we're even then. But you're not done yet you know."
