Kid Tony (Revamped)

Chapter 10 - Rhodey

Tony continued to build with the lego as people began leaving the room. Thor had business to take care of on Asgard so had to leave. Clint, Natahsa and Bucky had gone to train up. Since Loki and Bruce were already in the lab, this left Steve and Tony in the living room.

"What do you want to do champ?" Steve asked as he looked at Tony, who looked a little bored of the lego now.

Tony shrugged a little as he finished up building the tower out of the lego. He stood up and walked over to Steve, climbing onto the couch next to him.

"I don't know. Can we watch a movie?" Tony asked.

"Sure. I've been meaning to catch up on some movies." Steve says with a smile, ruffling the kid's hair.

Tony giggled and grabbed a blanket, trying to wrap it around both him and Steve. It wasn't big enough for the both of them. So Steve made sure Tony was all wrapped up.

"But you don't have any of the blanket." Tony says, looking a little worried.

"Don't worry. I will be fine. You need it more than me." Steve reassures as he turns back to the TV.

He started scrolling through all the movies that they had, waiting for Tony to pipe up on which one he wanted to watch. But he didn't say a word. He was uncharacteristically quiet.

It worried Steve a little. But he wasn't going to bring it up.

"What do you want to watch on here?" Steve asked Tony.

"Oh, uh, Lion King please." Tony says as he looks at the selection.

"Alright. I haven't watched this movie before. Have you?" Steve asked, clicking on it.

"No. Dad says movies are a distraction and I should focus more on important things." Tony says, shifting uncomfortably.

Steve frowned a little but didn't say a word about it. That wasn't the Howard he knew. Surely he wasn't like that.

He noticed that Tony was more uncomfortable now.

"That means that we both get to watch it together." Steve says with a smile.

Tony smiles and nods at that before Steve puts the movie on and it starts to play.

Both of them go relatively quiet as the movie plays through. But Tony nudges Steve a little and looks up at him.

"Am I allowed an orange juice box?" Tony asked.

Steve looked down at Tony and nodded.

"Of course you are. Let me get it for you." Steve says and stands up.

"But you're missing the movie." Tony says.

"It's fine. Look. I can pause it." Steve says and pauses the movie using the remote.

Tony looked at the TV and nodded a little at that. Steve smiled and quickly went to the kitchen, grabbing one of the orange juice boxes from the fridge and heading back over with it.

"Here you go." He says with a smile, watching Tony take it with a smile.

"Thank you." Tony says as he pokes the straw into the box, beginning to drink it.

"You're welcome." Steve says and sits down next to Tony.

He unpauses the movie as Tony snuggles closer to Steve, drinking his juice box. The two of them were happy to just sit there and watch the movie.

After around an hour into the movie, yelling could be held.

"ANTHONY EDWARD STARK!!!!" Someone shouts, causing Tony to flinch and whimper, burying his face into Steve's side.

Steve looked down at Tony and paused the movie, pulling him close. With that reaction, he knew Tony didn't like to be full named at that age. It must have had bad connotations at that age for him.

The owner of the voice soon entered the room and it was clear to see that the intentions behind the full name shout were not bad.

Rhodey looked at the two and his expression softened.

"Hey Rogers. Have you seen a certain engineer anywhere? And when did you guys get a kid?" Rhodey asked as he looked at the two.

"Um. About that. This is the certain engineer. Don't yell. He doesn't like yelling." Steve says as he holds Tony.

"When did this happen? And why wasn't I told when this happened? I'm his best friend. I should have known as soon as this happened." Rhodey says, crossing his arms.

"We were going to tell you. But the last couple days have been chaotic." Steve says as he looks down at Tony, who had calmed down and was looking over at Rhodey.

Rhodey smiled and crouched down to be at the level that Tony was at.

"Hey Tony. My name is Rhodey." Rhodey says to Tony, hoping to gain his trust again.

"Hi Mr Rhodey." Tony says as he remains in Steve's arms.

Rhodey smiles at Tony.

"Hey. Guess what? I've got some things for you." Rhodey says.

"Really?" Tony says, his eyes sparkling a little.

"Yeah. We just need to go somewhere to get them first." Rhodey says.

Tony looked up at Steve to see if it was okay.

"You can go with Rhodey." Steve says as he puts him on his feet on the floor.

Tony nodded and walked over to Rhodey so he could hold his hand. They both walked off towards Tony's bedroom.

"What have you got me?" Tony asked as he walked with Rhodey.

"It's a surprise." Rhodey says as he opens the door to the room.

Tony nodded and looked around the room. Rhodey let go of his hand and headed to the closet.

"This is a messy room." Tony says as he looks at all the tools and blueprints that littered the room.

"The owner of this room doesn't like it tidy." Rhodey says.

"I don't like it tidy either. It is harder to come up with cool ideas." Tony says.

"That's exactly what the other person says." Rhodey says as he comes over with a couple of items.

Tony looked at Rhodey and his eyes sparkled more.

Rhodey was holding a Captain America onesie and two stuffed bears. One was dressed up as Bucky and the other was dressed up as Captain America.

"Whoa! I love them!" Tony says as he rushes over to Rhodey.

"You can put on the onesie now if you'd like." Rhodey says as he puts the bears on the bed.

Tony nodded eagerly and Rhodey helped him into the onesie. He then put the hood up so it looked like he was wearing the helmet.

"Thank you Mr Rhodey!" He says and hugs Rhodey tightly.

"You're welcome. How about we go and show Steve your things?" Rhodey suggests as he hugs the child.

Tony nodded at that and let go of the hug to grab the two teddies, heading out of the room with Rhodey.
