People are people,

and sometimes we change our mind

Max

"Hey man," Mason said entering the apartment. "Damn it looks nice in here. I'm assuming this was the roommate's doing."

I had finally found a time for Mason to come over and I just prayed that his plan worked. I couldn't keep living with Maria who wanted nothing to do with me. I felt like the biggest dick in the world every time I came home.

"Yeah," I nodded. "She put all these stupid plants and shit everywhere."

"I think it looks nice," Mason replied. "What's her name?"

"Maria," I answered feeling the guilt pool in my stomach as I thought about the fact that my best friend didn't even know her real name.

"Is she here?" He asked still looking around.

"No," I replied. "She isn't home yet."

"She does come home late," Mason replied. "Are you going to make me dinner or am I just here to make you a less creepy roommate?"

"You know I don't cook," I laughed. "I thought we were going to watch the game."

"I know I was just messing with you," he laughed. We sat down on the couch and I turned on the football game. I couldn't care less about football, but it was the only way to get Mason to come over.

"So I'm assuming she hasn't forgiven you for the mug thing?" Mason asked.

"Hardly," I laughed. "She told me she didn't want to talk about it when I tried to apologize."

"Ah, touchdown!" Mason cheered his attention back on the tv. The door opened revealing Maria. She had on a pair of leggings and a little sports bra under her unzipped jacket. Her hair was up in a high ponytail. As soon as she saw us, she zipped her jacket up.

"Hey Maria," I smiled. She gave me a little polite wave, which I knew as for the sake of the decent-looking guest sitting next to me. As she started to walk to the kitchen, I tried my best to stop her. "This is my good friend, Mason."

"Hey," she said giving Mason a wave and disappearing into the kitchen before anyone could say anything else.

"She really doesn't want to be around you man," Mason chuckled.

"I know," I sighed.

"I'll handle it," Mason replied standing up.

Maria

I didn't know Max had friends, but I had a feeling that he was probably an asshole if he could stand Max. I wish he would just give me fair warning before I walked into random strangers lounging around my apartment. I shoved some kale and yogurt into the blender.

"Hey," the guy, Mason, said walking into the kitchen. I turned on the blender, so I wouldn't have to talk to him. He was standing at the fridge when I finished. He really wasn't horrible looking. In fact, he looked normal, but I wasn't ready to accept that just yet. His personality could be far different from his looks. I had to admit though he was a very handsome tall brunette.

"I assume all these vegetables are yours," he laughed. "Haven't seen Max cook anything in years."

"Yeah," I nodded. "I don't think the oven had been turned on until I moved in."
