episode 6

The day fades into the beautiful night sky and the lights of the theater came on, it was time for the show. Excitement and confetti filled the tip of theater, the crowd began to shout out Arthur’s name.

“ARTHUR ! ARTHUR!”  

nervous but calm he walked out on stage with a mind full of uncertainties.

“Good night Boston whose ready for a spectacular show tonight?”

Arthur hid his emotions so good nobody knew what was going on his mind.

As Arthur performed, he called upon Allison to help with his act. In Arthur’s mind having Allison there, bought back a lot of memories for him. She made him remember his first time starting off as a magician and his joy’s of being home in the country side. Both Arthur and Allison had a history, but things got complicated when Allison started to control Arthur's life. Only Arthur wasn’t  at his best; Allison was known for her cunning ways of swindling money from rich men and when they were no longer beneficial to her, she would move on to another. This was something that she could control her love for material things went above her head.

 Arthur who was smitten by her, fell deeply in love with her, so much that he began to change slowly. His life had become one of  money, fame and he  also became an alcoholic. She made Arthur use magic to steal and  rob  others  of  their respect.

For money was all she cared about, but now all that was about to come to it's very end. Kate brought Arthur back to the right path after exposing Allison. Arthur still had feelings for Allison but couldn’t care less about her. The show was about to start and as Allison and Arthur proceeded with the first act, the crowd went wild. The amusement and excitement grew as the magicians perform their great illusion. As one would say “it was the most spectacular show!”

The smiles and disbelief on people’s faces brought happiness to these magicians . On stage Arthur felt a genuine happiness that filled his heart,since performing was the only thing that made him feel satisfied.

The crowd cheered him on, Only to realise his happiness was short lived. Lurking from the shadows of the crowd, stood a man dressed in a black jacket, hat and black gloves, he even had a golden tooth when he smiled. Arthur even noticed a scar across his face, with a single look this guy looked like bad news.

This suspicious character bothered Arthur a bit, yet he continued with his performance ignoring the fact that this man stood in the crowd like a statue. Arthur paid no attention and tried to focus on his next act, his show was much more important. About half an hour into the show, Allison ordered Arthur and his team to take a five minute break. Arthur walked off the stage when Allison noticed that Arthur’s microphone was a little loose and decided to fix it.

The strange looking man made his way backstage and was seen talking to Allison a few minutes before the break. Kate was heading to her dressing room when she over heard a heated conversation between Allison and this strange character.

Kate had informed Arthur about the situation which he then questioned Allison about it but she made an excuse to avoid his questions

“It was just some guy lost his way to the bathroom.”

Arthur didn’t think much about it after but he got very tensed when she spoke, for no one was allowed back stage. Arthur decided to focus on his performance, for he was a bit distracted. Little did he know that this was going to be a very long night. In the moment of his performance, Arthur didn't notice the strange, suspicious man kept moving slowly towards the stage. Something wasn’t right.

Something felt very strange to Arthur, he suddenly felt a cold chill down his  spine and  his hands had become cold. Arthur had frozen on stage. This had never happened to him before. He had lost all his concentration and focus on the show. As the crowd slowly became quiet, He felt as though he couldn’t speak.  Allison realised Arthur was uneasy and  wondered to herself why does it appear to be as if Arthur had stage fright. Even Damon and Kate looked on wondering what was the matter with Arthur.

Arthur kept his eyes on the crowd looking at this strange character lurking in the crowd. Everyone stood quietly and looked on as if it was a part of the show. Little did they know what was happening to Arthur. The entire arena was in a state of suspense and silence. The man kept moving closer to the stage and Arthur’s fear began to show in his eyes. Kate and Damon began to worry about Arthur.

For he never looked this terrified during a show. Arthur seemed distracted to everyone.  Meanwhile backstage, Allison tries to get his attention but he ignored her completely. His eyes stared at the crowd for a moment and  noticed the man slowly place his right hand into his jacket pocket and pulled out a gun. Arthur drifted backwards slowly and to him it appeared to be as if time had stop.

The tense moment made Arthur sweat under the pressure and he wasn’t sure if to move. Using a glass of water as an excuse, Allison decided to walk out on stage to make sure Arthur was okay. Allison snapped her finger twice in front of Arthur’s eyes and suddenly he noticed she was standing there.

His voice trembled and his hands seemed cold as he said softly and away from the microphone

“Ally you shouldn’t be here! Leave now!”

His words alone alarmed his friends and everyone backstage. Damon and Kate, decides to shut down the show immediately only they were out of time. They ran towards the ropes that drops the thick red curtains, unfortunately the ropes were stuck.

They knew something was wrong, but luck was not in their favour tonight. The intense moment made the man point the gun towards the stage and in a split second he fired the weapon, causing havoc and chaos inside of the arena.

Arthur heard the gunshot and  every thing around him became slowed down as he closed his eyes, he thought to himself could this really be his end, when the lights go off?. Allison dropped the glass of water and looked directly into Arthur’s eyes. Arthur heard the sound of the glass break and immediately open his eyes only to see Allison standing in front of him.

The man had missed his shot and the bullet penetrated Allison instead since she was standing in front of Arthur. Arthur felt a stinging pain through his arm, as he held on to Allison when he noticed she was holding her chest. His eyes were filled with terror, as Allison falls onto his open arms. Her both hands were covered in blood, as she stained Arthur's white suit.

The strange man escaped through the back doors. Alarms had went off and people were screaming and running scared, Kate was extremely worried about Arthur since she saw Arthur falling to the ground together with Allison. Her heart skipped a sudden beat when she saw him covered in blood. The first thing came to Kate's mind was that Arthur had been shot.

Damon tried to cut across the screaming crowd that went insane after hearing the loud gunshot but he was pushed outside by the frantic crowd. People scattered like wild ants and  the  loud sound of traumatic screams were heard through the  entire  arena. Kate was escorted out by police, she shortly after as she joined her brother outside who was scared and worried. Once the incident was contained the dust cleared, the medical staff  intervened to assist when they realised only Allison was shot.

The bullet penetrated through Allison’s chest and grazed Arthur's left arm, since he attempted to move her out of the way. The bullet was meant for Arthur, as the Police found evidence that the strange man hated Arthur because he was seen with Allison on many occasions. This was all because of the hate and envy that grew in the killers heart. For he couldn't bare the pain of seeing Allison and Arthur together.

As one would say nothing is fair in love and war.
According to the police reports the man was Allison’s psycho boyfriend.

Arthur fell unconscious on stage, after seeing the blood since Allison was bleeding when she fell into Arthur's arms. He held onto Allison’s lifeless body as they both fell unconscious on the floor.  His both hands were covered in blood. This was an image Arthur couldn’t get out of his head. The next day, Damon turned on the television during breakfast. The house seem quiet and the tragic moment felt like it wasn't over.

Kate was dressing Arthur’s wounds as they listened to the news report. Suspicious reasons had risen and a lot of questions was asked by the media and other social media networks. The news reporters went on to report that even though the show was a huge success over the years it also brought danger and enemies. For this was nothing compared to what Arthur was about to face.
