The Beanie

Chapter 16

"What are you doing here?" Clearly he wasn't expecting me... or anyone really. You could tell from how he was dressed and looked. He looked horrible... I couldn't help but feel like I caused that. Dressed in grey sweatpants and a ripped black shirt, both hanging low... Bags under his eyes, eyes that barely had any colour or life in them. As for his hair, to put it bluntly, his hair looked like a mop on his head.

"Sorry Alex. I just, wanted to give this back..." I spoke holding out his favourite grey beanie that had become my favourite. Alex's face looked confused because his eyebrows knitted together and nose scrunched up while inspecting it. Hesitantly his fingers grazed the hat soon clutching it in his hand but I don't think he noticed that my presence was no longer in front of him. June had pulled up out the front and I was already in the car closing the door. As I reached for my seatbelt my eyes locked gazes with his, but only before the car moved so he was no longer there. I just stared into the mirror where I spotted his tall figure still standing on his doorstep watching the retreating car with the beanie firmly in his grip.

I just couldn't shake off this strange feeling. I had no clue as to what it was but I knew something was definitely there, there's no denying that. I also couldn't forget the look in his eyes when I looked back at him from the car. There was no life in them, but something lurked behind them...

Alex POV

Sorrow... I tried my hardest to not breakdown then and there. I tried to hide the sorrow in my eyes while I was about to lose it...

I could tell by the suitcase in the backseat that she was leaving today. When I opened the door I wanted nothing more then to wrap my arms around her and never let her go. Tell her I loved her and have her say it back... I wanted her to feel the same... To love me... I wanted to call her mine, to hug and kiss her whenever I please, to cuddle with her and have playful arguments/fights where it was us just messing around. A relationship where we both are in love and acted like best friends. I couldn't though... It's never going to happen because she doesn't feel the same and it's so much to take in especially in her position.

Just when all my hope was draining out of me, I realised something... That look in her baby blue eye. I've seen that look before, not towards me but, Max... She loved Max..! When Raven first developed feelings for him, she had that look. I'm not saying she likes me in that way at all, but I am saying there is hope. I knew it! I just need to prevent her from thinking otherwise! With this sudden change, I bolted to the garage, started the car up and was driving in a matter of seconds.

Finally reaching my destination I slammed the car door so quickly and carelessly, I swear I heard something crack in the door. Never the less though, I sprinted into the airport and locked the car without looking behind me. I looked feral and out of place, but that didn't matter because I was now a man on a mission.

Racing through the crowds barefooted I skidded to a few stops to get through security and frantically searching for her. My heart was pounding against my chest as if it were a bird trying to brake free my it's cage. I was completely out of breath, but none of my condition mattered to me when I saw her. Raven was just about to walk through the boarding tunnel ((((AN- that probably isn't the name but honestly I don't care, it's what I'm calling it because it's midnight and poop)))), her dark red hair swaying gently as she walked at her own pace. I had to think quick and the smartest thing I had was yell her name and sneak past security. Yeah, I know, genius...

Once I managed to sneak past the lady who was checking tickets, I broke out into a full speed chase. "Raven!" I yelled at the top of my strained voice as she rounded the last corner of the tunnel. "Raven, Raven Oaks! Lil-Red!" The last name was simply out of panic and the first thing to come to mind. I almost exploded when I saw her turn her head, icy blue eyes searching the crowds for whoever was calling out to her. Her light red lips separated slightly, that's when she met my gaze.

"Alex?" She breathed in what I believe is a mixture of things but mostly shock. She looked so small, so innocent and, fucking stunning. I haven't seen her wear a dress in years, and the makeup was new as well. She was originally flawless and now... Now she was perfect!

"Raven" I spoke quietly while studying her face still. "What are you doing here?" Her soft voice sounded slightly panicked. I found my confidence that I use to get all the time, and used it to my full advantage. "I just came to give you this" quoting what she said to me and held out my beanie for her to take. She didn't do anything though, just stared at it. "Alex..." I cut her off, I just needed to try. "No please just hear me out?" She sighed in exasperation looking over her shoulder at the plane that she was suppose to be catching which was starting to file people in. "Make it count" and I did just that...

I pulled her small figure towards my tall body by her waist and pressed my lips against hers in any hope that my burst of confidence will do me some good. It was only a slow gentle kiss but that's how I wanted it. What took me by surprise though was, she kissed back! I now definitely knew that I was at least on her mind, whether it be good or not. We stood there not changing the kiss, until something in me made her step backwards pressing her up against the wall causing Raven to snake her arms around my neck. The kiss became a bit more heated as my gesture changed the contrast of our kiss. Once again, I did something without thinking, my tongue grazed her lip for entrance. After a small hesitation, Raven accepted and I soon found myself exploring her mouth. Her tongue piercing had a weird effect though, it gave me a sensation that was both weird and good. Sadly all good things must come to an end though... We pulled away panting at the lack of air just staring at each other in that position.

"I believe I made that count, wouldn't ya think..?" I cockily spoke with a wink. Making her blush, god she looked adorable. "Plus, the tongue piercing is a thrill" another flirtatious tone. That caused her to smirk before she spoke. "I know right, but what's better is how you're now wearing lipstick" then she started to giggle. I will admit, yeah that is kinda embarrassing but it was worth it. "You're just jealous that I can rock it better then you", speaking in a playful tone and doing a dramatic hair flick which just caused black strands of hair to land in front of my eyes. She simply giggled at me and I couldn't help but watch in awe. My expression suddenly fell serious, 100% focused on her and studying her completely. "You're so beautiful..." I breathed without thinking. Shit. Her giggles faded as her expression changed to match mine.

"Ale-" "No. Don't. Please, don't give me that 'Alex im sorry' bullshit Raven. Just, please... Think about it, about me, about the future. What you want, even if after you get back and you never want me around again I'll leave you alone, I promise... I'll be here, I'll wait with open arms if a miracle happens and something sparks inside of you. Just, please, think..." All my emotions blending together in both facial expressions and tone of voice. Ravens arms instantly dropped beside her and she stiffened under my touch. I lazily lowered my hands off her, opened her small hands, dropped the beanie in them and rolled her fingers over the beanie so they'd be in the shape of a fist whilst clutching it. I leant forward placing a lingering kiss on her right cheek before stepping back.

I watched her walk away and up the stairs of the plane, standing there compete paralysed in place. "Think..." I whispered. "Just, think..."

I know j didn't mention this, but Ashton is going to the weddings still but a few days after or something. I don't know, he'll just appear sometime. haha

The songs I was listening to when writing this were; Mess I made - Parachute Dreaming of somebody else - Mayberry Always Attract - You Me At Six ^ YM@6 is probably one of my all time favourite bands!!! ^

What's Raven going to end up doing? Will she find that spark for Alex? Or will she find someone else in London?
