A few days later, on New Year's eve, Wanda, Natasha and Aspen came to the tower with groceries. They walked into the kitchen, where Tony, Steve, Cal and Pietro were waiting for them.
"Eggs for Aspen's cake, decorations for Tony's party, champagne for the adults and sparkling grape juice for the kids", Wanda said.
"Thank you", Tony said.
"Did you remember to buy frosting?" Steve asked.
"Yes. For Aspen's cake. She made sure we didn't forget that", Natasha said.
"It's important", Aspen says in defense. "Do the people like chocolate or vanilla?"
"I don't know. Could you do one layer chocolate and the other vanilla? And made sure there's no peanuts in it?" Tony asked.
Aspen nodded. She puts a mixing bowl on the counter. "Okay, I'm gonna need red, black, blue and yellow frosting", Aspen said. Pietro handed her the vanilla frosting and food coloring.
"Are you sure you have everything?" Tony asked.
"Yes. I have everything. Everything's under control", Aspen said.
Nick Fury and Maria Hill walked into the kitchen. Everyone froze and looked at them.
"Fury, J.A.R.V.I.S didn't warn me you were here", Tony said.
Hill looked at Aspen. "Is this her?" Hill asked.
Steve and Natasha looked at Aspen. They looked back at Fury and Hill and nodded.
"Yeah", Steve said.
"We just came to meet her", Fury said.
"Great, because it doesn't end well for those who don't care about her", Tony said.
Aspen walked towards Fury and Hill. "You're Nick Fury?" Aspen asked.
"I am", Fury says.
"I did imagine you as a bald pirate".
The room went silent. Tony, Steve and Natasha looked at each other. They looked at Fury when they hear him laugh.
"I like this kid", Fury says. "What's your name?"
"Aspen", Aspen says. "Wanna help me bake a cake?"
"Sure", Hill said.
The Avengers looked at them in shock. "What the actual hell?" Tony asked.
"Language!" Steve shouted.
"I will do no such thing!" Tony shouted.
A while later, Aspen's cake was out of the oven as more and more guests arrived. Aspen wore a purple dress.

Aspen puts the frosting on the cake. She takes it into the living room after she's finished. Aspen puts the cake on a counter.
Aspen stood in a corner. Loki walks toward her. "You should be having fun out there", he tells her.
"If they see my face, they'll start screaming", Aspen said.
"I'm here. I've done terrible things",Loki said.
"I...didn't know that", Aspen said. "It was probably years ago. They probably forgive you".
"The glares I've been receiving says otherwise", Loki said. Aspen gave him an uneasy look. "I won't let them glare at you".
Aspen grabbed his hand. They walked towards a bar, where Steve and Thor were talking to elderly men.
"Care for a drink, Aspen?" Thor asked.
Aspen nodded. Thor handed her a glass cup which had a liquid in it. Aspen drinks out of it.
"I feel like I seen you before", one of the men said to Aspen.
"I uh...I have that face", Aspen says before she walked away. Loki followed her.
"Do you want to leave?" Loki asked.
"Where would we go?"

A few minutes before midnight, Aspen and Loki walked into the library. They both sat in bean bag chairs.
"So what do we do?" Aspen asked.
"Whatever you'd like", Loki said.
Aspen sits closer to Loki. She laid her head on his chest. Aspen made a blanket appear. She wraps it around herself.
"Do you think Steve would want to adopt me?" Aspen asked.
"I know he sees you as a daughter", Loki said.
"How do you see me?" Aspen asked.
"I don't know, but I do know I won't let anyone hurt you", Loki said.
"I've never had anyone care about me until I found you guys. Thank for that. It means a lot to me", Aspen said.
Aspen and Loki heard the people upstairs shouting, "Happy New Years!"
"Hey, happy new year", Aspen said.
"Uh, Happy New Year", Loki said.
"I never stayed up this late. I never really had a family to spend New Year's with", Aspen said.
"Well now you do", Loki said.
Aspen slowly fell to sleep. When she was finally down, Loki carried Aspen to her room, where he tucked her into bed.
