Aspen woke up in a room. Steve sat next to her bed. He looked at Aspen and closed the book he was reading.
"Where am I?" Aspen asked.
"At the Avengers compound", Steve said.
"Why didn't you just lock me up?" She asked.
"We want to help you. You shouldn't have to go through this alone", Steve said.
"No one ever cared about what happened to me so thank you. I'm Aspen", Aspen introduced.
"Steve Rogers", Steve says.
Downstairs, in one of the cells, Wanda and Pietro gave Loki some company because they didn't want him to be alone. The three of them played a card game.
"Boom! Checkmate!" Pietro shouted for the fifth time. Loki rolled his eyes for the 5th time.
"Pietro, would you stop saying that. This is a different game", Wanda says for the fifth time.
"Look, Maximoffs, I appreciate your company, but we can't always play card games", Loki said. The twins had come to his cell for a while and started to grow a bond with him.
"Well, what do you want to do?" Wanda asked.
"I want to leave this cell. Thanos is gone. I'm fine", Loki said. "It's been two months since we defeated him".
Tony came into the room. He opened the door to the cell. "Get out. All of you. We have work to do", Tony said. The Maximoff twins and Loki got out of the cell.
"What's the problem?" Wanda asked.
"Don't freak out...it's upstairs", Tony said. Wanda and Pietro looked at each other. Wanda, Pietro and Loki followed Tony upstairs. They stop at a door. "In here, there is a little girl who needs help".
"The problem is a child?" Loki asked.
"Talk about being dramatic, Stark", Pietro says.
"Her powers are out of control. She needs a teacher", Tony said. He looks at Loki. "Wanna prove you're on our side? You're her mentor".
Tony opens a door. Aspen sat in bed. Natasha and Steve sat by her bed.
The twins looked at Aspen. "So this child here is what all the fuss was about?" Loki asked. Tony nodded.
"What's your name again, kid?" Tony asked Aspen.
"Aspen", she responded.
"A-s-p-e-n", Tony says as he writes it down. "How old are you?"
"13", Aspen says.
"And when is your birthday?" Tony asked.
"I...don't know", Aspen said. Tony writes down the information.
"How bad was it? The damage?" Wanda asked. Tony turned on the TV. The news showed the damage caused by Aspen. Aspen looked away.
"Holy Sh..." Pietro started. He looks at Aspen. Then, he looked at Steve, who gave him a look. "Schnitzel", Pietro says. Aspen rolled her eyes.
"You did all that?" Wanda asked, pointing at the TV. Aspen nodded as she looks down sadly.
"Mr. Stark, may I talk to you for a moment?" Loki asked. Tony nodded. He walks out of the room along with Loki.
"I can not help her", Loki says.
"Why the hell not?" Tony asked.
"Her powers are beyond out of control. I can't help her. Can't you take her to her parents?" Loki asks.
"She doesn't have any parents. Look, we're her only hope. We have to help her. You two have the 'adopted child' thing in common", Tony said.
"I will go back to my cell now. I can't help her", Loki says. He walks away from Tony. Tony looks inside the room. Aspen looks at him with a sad look which tells Tony that she heard the conversation.
Tony follows Loki. "You can't help her or you won't?" Tony asks. "There's a difference".
"Stark, I won't help", Loki says.
"Listen, Reindeer games, you weren't there to hear what they said about her. They called her a monster. They wanted her dead. A kid shouldn't have to go through that", Tony said.
Loki looks at Tony. He sighs and walked towards Aspen's room. Loki stands by the doorway. "Training starts tomorrow at 8AM in the training room. I will teach you what you need to know. Don't be late", he says. Aspen nodded.
Loki walks out of the room. He looks at Tony. "Happy now?"Loki asks.
"You did good, Reindeer games", Tony says.
