After looking at the buildings, Tony bought the five buildings. He hired workers from Stark industries to build security sensors, barbed wires, security cameras and brick walls around the new campus.
Aspen has worked on the plans with the Avengers, Fury and Hill. Fury sent agents to protect the children until everything is set.
All January, the Avengers had been busy with missions and Aspen has been busy with putting the school together.
It was now February. Aspen was close to finishing the blueprints to the school.
One day, Aspen and Steve walked towards Aspen's room. She removed the loose board from under her bed. Aspen pulls out the plans for the school.
"If anything were to happen to me, make sure no one gets these plans. We can't risk anyone harming the other kids, Steve", Aspen said.
"I won't let anything happen to those plans", Steve said. "And I won't let anything happen to you".
"Then, why won't you adopt me?" Aspen asked.
"Aspen, you know I can't", Steve said.
"I just don't get why not", Aspen said.
"Aspen, I don't want to argue with you. I'm sorry, but I can't do it", Steve said.
"You can't or you won't? There's a big difference, Steve", Aspen said.
"Why do you want me? Why not Stark or Barton? Why not Loki?" Steve asked.
"Loki is my brother, Clint and Tony is someone I see as my uncles. No one has cared so much for me in my life. You always find a way to be there for me", Aspen said. "Please adopt me, Steve. I want you to be my Dad".
"Aspen, I'm not the right guy for the job. I can't be your dad", Steve said before he walks out of the room.
Aspen sat on her bed. She fights back the tears that threatened to escape. Her eyes were blue and purple.

The next day, the Avengers were given a mission. Natasha and Aspen walked into the casino. Aspen wore a light purple dress.
"Alright, look for that ruby necklace that Gregory has. We think it might be a powerful weapon", Fury said through the comms.
"We're on it", Aspen said. She walks toward a bar. Natasha looks at Aspen. She never heard her sound angry.
Natasha and Aspen sat by the bar. "Do you want to talk about what happened with Steve", Natasha asked.
"Talking about it will only make me angrier", Aspen says.
"Aspen, you can't keep avoiding him",Natasha said.
"As long as I'm angry, yes, I can", Aspen said.
"Nat, there's a man behind you and Aspen. I think that may be Gregory",Wanda said through her comm.
Natasha turned around to see a man with a beard. He wore a tuxedo and he had a ruby necklace around his neck.
"That's him. He's got the necklace", Aspen said. "Fury, what should we do?"
"Agent Romanoff will distract him. I need you to stay put and assist her in case something goes wrong", Fury said.
Aspen nodded. "Okay", she says.
Meanwhile, Fury stood in the Quinjet with Maria Hill, Steve and Tony. Clint piloted the Quinjet.
"So what happened between you and Aspen yesterday?" Hill asked Steve.
"She's upset because he won't adopt her", Tony explained.
"Why the hell not?" Fury asked.
"I'm not the person she needs, Fury", Steve said.
"Who do you think she needs? Her jackass father?" Fury asked.
"Nick, have you not heard? Steve doesn't like that kind of talk", Hill said. Steve gave Hill a look.
"Cap, there's no better person for the job than you", Fury said.
"That's a big responsibility. I don't know if I'm cut out for it", Steve said.
"Steve, there's a reason Aspen chose you. She's a bright kid. You should feel lucky", Tony said.
"I feel like it's the best thing to ever happen to me, but she deserves someone better", Steve said.
"Who would be better than you?" Fury asked. Steve doesn't say anything.
"Exactly", Tony said.

Aspen sat at the bar. A man walks toward her. He sat next to her. Aspen avoids eye contact as the man looks at her.
He leaned closer and whispered, "Hail Hydra". Aspen's eyes widened. She looks at the man, who had a smirk on his face. Aspen's eyes were frosty blue.
Aspen hears a gun go off outside. The windows broke. HYDRA soliders stormed inside. The man grabbed Aspen. She screams. The man puts his hand over her mouth and nose. Aspen's eyesight got blurred before she blacked out.
Natasha ran towards Aspen, but a man jumps between her and Aspen. Natasha grabbed a glass cut from the counter of the bar. She smashed it over the man's head. He groaned in pain. Natasha kicked him, sending him into the counter. He rolled off the counter and fell behind the bar.
Natasha looked over at the man who carried an unconscious Aspen on his shoulder. Natasha ran towards them as she spoke into her ear piece.
"Natasha, what's going on?" Steve asked.
"HYDRA is here. They've got Aspen", Natasha said.
Steve quickly grabbed his helmet and pushed the button that opened the Quinjet's hangar doors. Steve puts his helmet on as the doors open.
"What are you doing?" Tony asked.
"Aspen needs me", Steve said before he grabbed his shield and jumped out of the Quinjet.
He grabbed onto a clothesline and swung off of it. He lands safely on the concrete ground.
He looks at the man, who was carrying Aspen on his shoulder. He walked into a van. Two men walked into the van and closed the door.
Steve ran towards the van as it began to drive off. "Steve, what are you doing?" Natasha asked through the comms.
"I'm not letting them take her", Steve said. He grabbed onto one of the doors to the van. He ripped the door off.
Steve jumped into the van. Two men took out their electric batons. One of them ran towards Steve. Steve grabbed him and threw him out of the van. The man rolled down the street.
Steve blocks the electric baton with his shield. He kicked the man into another man.
"It's gonna be alright, Aspen", Steve said. Before he could get to her, a tall guy, pushed Steve to the ground.
Steve throws his shield at the man. The shield bounced into Steve's hand as the man stumbled backwards. Steve and the man stands up.
The man kicked Steve, knocking him into the door. The door fell off the truck along with Steve.
Steve laid on the road. He stands up as Natasha ran towards him. "We can't let them get away", Steve said.
"We won't, but we need to figure out a plan if we're going to get Aspen back",Natasha said.
Steve watched as the van drove away. The tall, muscular man stood by the door and glared at them.
"Nat, they've got a super solider with them".
