Prolouge: Leaving

~Mai's P.O.V~

The one question that made me want to die was because of 'Naru' saying, "Me or Gene?" I can't believe I fell in love with someone SO selfish. I walked to the place where Gene died. I decided I would die in the lake where Gene died. I felt so ready to die that I couldn't do it.

I said out loud to myself, "I can't do this, I should stay strong." By then I felt more and more determined. "I'll move to America to finally start anew. I can do that instead of dying. I'll leave soon, so no one will know of this plan." I called someone who owned a plane and asked if I could ride in it. Of course, they said sure.

I ran home, I started packing. Then I heard, "Ding-dong!" The doorbell rang. After a few moments the door opened. 'Shoot, I forgot to lock the door!" I thought, scolding myself.I turned towards the door and saw... Monk.

He looked around my house and his eyes just had to land on the luggage sitting right in front of me. His facial expression then became very confused. All he did was ask, "Mai, what are you doing?".

I decided to tell him that I almost committed suicide but decided to just start anew in America. I sorta might've gotten a little scared to look at Monk's facial expression that I just told him with my eyes closed. After I told him all that, I decided to just look at his face. When I slowly opened my eyes the only emotion radiating off of Monk's face was shock.

"Mai, are you sure you want this?" He asked calmly.

I just answered, "Yes, I DO want this, it's the only way I could finally forget about 'him' once and for all, Monk. Also, please don't tell anyone until an emergency occurs. While I'm in America I'll be staying with my au-" I got cut off.

Monk yelled, "I thought you said that you didn't have anymore family members! Why didn't you stay with her?!"

I argued back, "I told her I wanted to stay in Japan. So, she let me stay here." I then calmly asked, "Also, can you please take care of this house for me?"

Monk firmly replied, "Fine, I'll take care of the house but, how do I pay the rent?"

I sighed and told him, "My aunt will pay for the rent." Before I could get cut off I explained, "My aunt owns a successful toy company." By hearing this Monk became shocked once more. "I'll be leaving to the airport at 6 p.m., which means....." I looked at my watch. ".. I have two hours left." I stated.

"Well then, you'll use your remaining time with me." Monk said happy as he can try to be.

Two Hours Later

I looked at the plane then at Monk, who was frowning, and said, "I guess I'll see you next time." Then, I started to frown as well.

"Don't forget I'll visit you at some point, ok kiddo." Monk told me with determination.

When I got on the plane, which was actually private, a maid asked me if I wanted some food. I answered with a simple, "yes". Then, the maid left to get the food. I said to myself, "Goodbye............. Japan."

2 Years later

In the end, Monk never visited me. Instead, he got married to Ayako. I'm happy for them, but I feel bad because I couldn't come to the wedding. I also heard that John and Masako started dating, and that Yasuhara got into college. I don't know about Oliver and Lin, but I'm doing great.
