Chapter 29: Not-so-Real-Confession

3rd Person P.O.V

Gene watched the screens with Madoka by his side. Everyone else has left to investigate. The two were still confused about the conversation between James and Mai. They knew they were talking about Mary, but they didn't know anything else. Either way, the two were deciding on which plan they should go with.

Suddenly, Madoka came up with a plan that was sure to make Naru believe that his brother and his Mai didn't like each other romantically. "What if you did a fake confession? Since we know she doesn't like you, she'll be sure to reject you. All we have to do is set up a camera in a hallway, make sure it's linked to the screens, and hide it while you confess and she rejects."

Gene thought about it, it was a decent plan that was sure to work, but they had to make sure Naru didn't believe that Mai and James were dating. He was positive that Naru figured out his riddle, and that something was going on between the two. Gene looked at Madoka, "Okay let's do this."

His teacher looked at him, and they did a high five. "Okay, but first, we have to set everything up," she said. Gene looked at the other screens, making sure to pick a hallway, away from everyone else who was walking around. The hallway they found was called Hallway VL19. Madoka quietly walked out of the base, trying to make sure that no one would be able to hear her leave. Luckily for her, right when she left the room, she bumped into someone.

"I'm so sorry Madoka, I didn't mean to bump into you, I was looking for Mai," it was Mary who was frantic and scared. She had a big case of being shy.

Madoka looked at Mary, "It's okay Mary, I was just going to go to the cafeteria or vending machine to get a snack for Gene and I. If you're looking for Mai, I'm not the one to ask since she went off somewhere and I can't remember."

The teenager was smiling slightly, "Oh okay, thanks for giving me an answer thought, all the other workers wouldn't say anything. I don't think they want me to disturb them. So wait, Gene is in the base? Do you want me to stay there to keep him company? I mean, never mind, I'll just be walking around if you need me."

She was about to leave until Madoka said, "You should keep Gene some company, it'll be better since Mai is bound to come back and if something was to happen, you have each other."

Mary blushed at a thought she had, but nodded. "Okay, I'll stay here then, if you can thought. Could you get me a snack too? I was supposed to have breakfast with Mai and James, but Mai changed her mind last minute and I'm hungry? So if you can, please."

Madoka nodded her head and left Mary standing outside the base door. Mary waited until she left. When she left completely, Mary knocked on the base's door. She heard a, "Come in," so she went in and saw Gene sitting on a chair. The two waved and Mary sat on the couch, waiting for something to change the boring atmosphere.

Gene was surprised when Mary walked into the room, he didn't expect her to come here, he thought she was going to meet up with Mai. He was more surprised when she asked, "What are you and Madoka planning?"

He gulped, not expecting that to happen. "Nothing," Gene replied.

"Stop lying, I can tell when people lie," she said.

Gene rendered it useless and gave up. "We're trying to get Mai and Noll together."

Mary laughed, "Really? Then count me in," she surprised him even more.

"Why?"

"What's wrong with matching the perfect couple together, either way, it was bound to happen, those two are just idiots. Also, I'd love to see it, so what's the plan?"
