Chapter 24: Name Calling

Mai's P.O.V

I drove back to the hotel, thinking about what meeting Aunt Asami was going to. I thought hard, 'Aunt Asami never said anything about a meeting, where is she going?' I turned into the parking lot and concentrated on parking. Once that was done, I rested my head on the driver's wheel with a sigh.'What makes this meeting so different then the rest, that Auntie won't tell me? Why did she even lie that this meeting was about business?'

I got out of the car and trudged over to the entrance of the hotel. I looked over to the receptionist desk only to see Anthony sitting there with a smile directed at me, but that quickly changed when he saw my thinking face on.

"Hey Mai, is something wrong? You look like you're thinking hard," Anthony said. "Did something happen between you and your aunt again?"

I nodded my head, "Yeah, it's just that my aunt said she had a meeting to go to tomorrow. She usually tells me a week before, but this time it's different. I wish she told me what the meeting is really about."

Anthony chuckled, "What do you mean, 'the meeting is really about?' Isn't it a business meeting? You know what the type of meetings she usually goes to?"

Sighing I nodded my head, "That's what she told me. A business meeting. But like I said before, she would tell me about this meeting a week before it's happening."

He looked at me with a straight face. "Maybe she forgot to tell you, or this was a surprise meeting that she just learned about as well. Did you think of all the possibilities of why she didn't tell you like she usually does?"

I shook my head, "No... But that doesn't mean she's not suspicious. You know more than me that she hates meetings she was told about before the day of the meeting, or even 1 week before." I realized something, something I could do to find out where she's going. "I got it!!" I looked at Anthony with a mischievous look. "She has a calendar in her house that reminds her that she has a meeting coming up. All we have to do is go and look at it, and boom, we know where she's going."

Anthony groaned, "Like I said, 'think of all the possibilities'. Your aunt might've not put this meeting on that calendar of hers. She might've had a plan just in case you looked at it and hid the calendar. Think of the possibilities!!!"

"Yeah, but she'll always put the date of the meeting and why, so she'll be prepared," I informed him. "Either way, you said you know more about her more than me," I said with a smug look.

He glared at me, "Really? I thought we said we'd never mention that... that... I can't think of the word."

The look stayed on my face as I said the word he was looking for. "Phase?"

His eyes lit with recognition of the word. "Yeah, phase!" Then he saw the smug on my face again. "Quit it Mai, you promised that you won't mention that phase of mine that stayed with me for a year of being you friend." Then he had the smug look on his face. "Hey Mai, what do you think Abbey would do to you if she found out that you broke your promise?"

I gulped feeling scared, but put on a mask, "You wouldn't dare," I accused.

"Oh," he said smiling, "I would."

I bit my bottom lip, taking of my straight face mask. "Please don't, she would kill me. Remember the time Mary broke her promise to James." He nodded. "Then you know she won't talk to me for a month!! She's one of the people I like to talk with throughout the day. You can't do this to me."

"Yes I can, 'cause I know that not talking to her is one of your weaknesses," he said laughing.

I made a decision, a terrible one at that. "I'll do one thing you want, no matter how embarrassing it is." 'I'm going to regret this later, aren't I...' I thought.

He grinned, "You have to call me King for an entire week."

In my head, I decided, 'I'll kill him later.' Instead of showing a part of my anger, I said, "Sure, I'll say that for a week, King."

'I hate calling him King!!! This is becoming annoying.' I thought. I walked down the halls of the factory once more. I faced James, "James, quit laughing at me!! I know that your laughing at the text An- King sent us about how I have to call him King."

"Come on Mai, tell me, why do you have to call Anthony King in the first place? I know that something's going on and that your not telling me," he replied.

"King? Who does Mai have to call king," someone entered the conversation.

I faced them with my eyes closed, "You don't have to rub it in," I opened my eyes to see who it was so I could say their name, only to be surprised by who it was. "Gene?!"

"Hey Mai, your friend Anthony told me to tell you that he said hello," he said in a casual tone.

I didn't bother to listen to what he said. "Wha??? I thought you died?" I looked to face James, "Is it me, or am I going crazy?"

He kept his eyes on Gene. "If you think you're going crazy, then I guess I am to."

Suddenly, someone jumped on top of me, making me fall over, but before I could harm my head, James slid to the floor on his knees, making my head land on his knees. "Mai!! It's been so long, and I'm sorry, are you okay, I almost made you hit your head," Madoka said.

I smiled, happy that I got to see Madoka. "I'm fine Madoka, but you should be asking James if he's okay, I fell on him."

Madoka looked from James to me nodding her head. Then she walked to Gene and whispered in his ear. I wonder what she's telling him. She walked over to James and shook his hand. "It's nice to meet you James, I'm Madoka. Are you alright, I made Mai fall on you."

He nodded, shaking her hand. "It's nice to meet you as well Madoka. Also, I'm fine, it happens sometimes."

I looked to see Naru walking towards the base with Lin. "Let's go, we have a case to solve," he said.

Then, I looked to face Gene. He smiled at me and walked over to Naru with Madoka by his side. I chased them with James behind me. "Aren't you going to tell me how you're alive Gene?!"

Me: Konnichiwa minna-san!! I hope you enjoyed today's chapter and whatnot. I have created plans once more, but this time, I will actually try to do it. I will update every Friday, or Saturday, which means I will write for about 5-15 minutes a day. Sadly, this story will finish in May, or June due to this plan. Now, let's give it up for Luella!!
